Why aren't these web sites being removed from the Internet?
You should petition your local government representative to have the US government (I'm presuming that most of these hate sites are on US servers) remove them.

People cannot argue "Freedom of Speech" to support these hate mongers, because that would contradict the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Freedom of Speech is outlined in Article 19 which states "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers."

However, hate-mongers are EXEMPTED from Article 19, as clearly expressed in the last two articles of the UDHR.

Article 30 states: "Nothing in this Declaration may be interpreted as implying for any State, group or person any right to engage in any activity or to perform any act aimed at the destruction of any of the rights and freedoms set forth herein." Hate-mongers are engaging in activities which aim at the destruction of the rights and freedoms of the people that they are persecuting against.

Article 29.3 also absolves these people's freedom of speech, as it states: "These rights and freedoms may in no case be exercised contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations." -- and persecution is certainly NOT one of the purposes/principles of the United Nations. In fact, the Preamble states that "Whereas disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind, and the advent of a world in which human beings shall enjoy freedom of speech and belief and freedom from fear and want has been proclaimed as the highest aspiration of the common people," -- in fact, it was the anti-Semitic prosecution during WWII that inspired the formation of the United Nations and the creation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the first place.

So when you see these kinds of web sites that outrage you, remember -- you don't have to tolerate it. These sites DEFY human liberty and have NO just claim to freedom of speech.

The ideals of freedom of speech was devised so that people could search for the truth. For example, Perceptor II and I have our different opinions of truth when it comes to religion -- P2 being a Christian, and myself being an athiest, however, we've always debate this issue in the spirit of finding the truth -- in the spirit of academia. Discussions such as ours has been is what freedom of speech was originally intended for. Blatant persecution is NOT what freedom of speech is about and the UDHR clearly objects to it.

Protest to your government and take some affirmative action.
I'd protest to my government, but considering that my government is currently ignoring stern criticism from the United Nations about Australia's treatment of refugees -- and the govt's blatant defiance of Article 14.1 (Everyone has the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution), I don't hold much hope that my government would bother to do anything about these sites.

Besides, most of them seem to be American sites, so I think it would be more effective if users here who are US citizens could write letters to the US government, then perhaps they could do something.
