Subject: Paper Tape Character Set Author: Albert Perez [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 19:37:50 10/17/01 Wed As part of the last group of ITU printer apprentices in Northern New Jersey I had a brief exposure to Linotype machines in the early 1970s. I served my apprenticeship with a local newspaper that was using paper tape to drive the Linotypes. Within 6 months the Linotypes had been replaced with Merganthaler VIP phototypesetters. Recently I got into a discussion with someone who also used paper type in the past. We were trying to remember what punches represented different characters. I've searched the web extensively and can't find a complete character set. If anyone knows where I could locate it, or could forward it, I would greatly appreciate it.
