Subject: Size of region matters and people need to start caring. Mid America is huge

Midlands in Ireland had a total of 15 U16 girls in their oireachtas/qualifier for worlds. 2 WMH and a tie for 7th place gave them 8 WQ out of 15 dancers. 15 U13 girls and 11 U14 girls!
The farther away you get from 20 dancers in any competition the less dancers qualify for worlds. We should not be penalized because our region is large. All regions should be close to the same size ( base it on the previous number of dancers).

[> Midlands Region is from An Commisium and is not part of CLRG. It is a smaller organization over all. But yes, our US regions are much larger than those overseas. -- No name, 14:47:24 11/29/22 Tue (netblock-208-127-153-40.dslextreme.com/208.127.153.40)

[> Agreed the regions need to be re-distributed so that comp size is more equal or just have a straight % that qualifies. -- WQ, 15:04:16 11/29/22 Tue (177.sub-174-210-226.myvzw.com/174.210.226.177)

[> [> [> [> So right now all boys would qualify, but in a girls competition with 110 and 75 of them are good, but they don’t all qualify. How is that fair? At least the percentage would be fair. -- ., 17:34:39 11/30/22 Wed (ool-18e43fa3.dyn.optonline.net/24.228.63.163)

[> [> [> [> [> Use marks instead of ranking for qualifiers after IP. -- No name, 10:38:52 12/02/22 Fri (t.marzetti.bear1.cincinnati1.level3.net/4.1.71.54)

You may have 1st 2nd etc and a few ties with Irish Points, but World and National qualifiers could be based off judges marks instead of Irish Points. Use the 10% bottom dancers’ score plus ~2 points. So for a group of 100 dancers, the top 10% would world qualify, plus anyone who had judges mark totals within ~2 points of that 10th dancer’s judges score total. So if there were 5 dancers who within a point or two of judges marks of the 10th dancer they would qualify. A single point from one judge can separate the 10th place and 15th place. Qualifying should be about skill, not ranking.

Boys is a separate argument as there are limited number of boys to keep the tradition and culture well.

More dancers at nationals and worlds is just more money and better economy.

Every dancer should be well celebrated for dancing, it’s hard to see any dancer walking away without recalling (frustrates, crying, ready to hang up the shoes), and those that did recall should be truly thankful and grateful for having competitors who danced with them, teachers knowing they didn’t have a chance. Celebrate all the dancers who tried and supported Oireachtas by attending.
