Eddie and Victoria came out the stage door together and a group was waiting for Eddie to sign, etc. So Victoria started to make her way through the group. I asked her to sign my program and she graciously did so. (She seemed a little surprised.) I told her "Victoria and Albert" had recently played on American telly (on the A&E channel) and I enjoyed her performance. (She played Queen Victoria.) She said she had heard there were some good reviews of it and I confirmed that and they were well deserved. Then Eddie joined us and signed my program at my request. Then more people crowded around asking him to sign so I started walking up the street to return to my hotel. When I got to the corner I realized that Eddie and Victoria were coming behind me so I waited until they caught up so I could tell them both that I thought their performances were very good and realistic. I mentioned that I had watched my own parents go through this and Victoria told me that the author had experienced this with his daughter and so he had written about his experiences. (Which of course I already knew, but the average theatre-goer might not have known the background.) Then Victoria and I just said goodbye. And all this time, Eddie said naaathing. They walked down the street in front of the Comedy Theatre, crossed Haymarket, and went into the restaurant on the corner.
