1) This particular item is not a matter of "belief" - it is a fact, human beings have walked on the moon. I have had the honor of speaking to one of them. 2) I honor anyone's opinions or beliefs, as long as they can demonstrate that some thought went into it. Willful ignorance is a sin against all that I consider holy. 3) There seems to be some element out there that thinks that folk can express any idea, and it should be taken as seriously, given as much credence, as any other statement. This is "liberal" thinking taken to a ridiculous end - if I assert that the earth is the physical center of the Universe, should I expect to be taken seriously? Is this a valid opinion? OK, I concede that the Earth is NOT flat!!........That is ignorance, we KNOW it is not flat.The Moon was a bad call, it is such a big subject.One I should not attempt to discuss here. The controversy was started up because the photos that were released appeared to be fakes. Have you ever studied them?? The flag would not wave in the breeze - no atmosphere etc etc..There have been books written on the subject. I personally believe man did land on the Moon, but my jury is out on weather we have been shown the correct evidence. What I really mean by all this is that Life is The Big Question. - I have heard the �fake photo� idea � what folk don�t realize is that about a thousand dollars were spent to make a flag pole out of materials light enough for the LEM, and as mission planners recognized that there was no air on the moon, a flag hanging there limp was no fun at all. A pole was inserted across the top of the flag, and hinged to the flagpole, to create the illusion that the flag was �flying� in a breeze. Why do we seek the most complicated, conspiratorial reasons for things, when a very simple, open explanation is much more likely? Brings to mind the VonDanniken approach to reality (Cufflinks of the Gods, etc.) � goes at great length to explain markings in the (Brazilian?) plains as �landing fields� for �alien spaceships� � when the simpler explanation is the great imagination of human beings, making marks in the dirt to say �I was HERE!� (NT) -- gumtree (theres more), 10:35:09 08/10/01 Fri

- I do not dismiss the idea (for example) that alien intelligence once visited earth, its rather unlikely � d you have any idea just how incredibly VAST interstellar distances are � and how unlikely life is, let alone intelligent life, and then intelligent life with which we could communicate? Dolphins are very intelligent � but we can only communicate on a very crude level � and they�re from the same planet, with the same biology as us! �well, went off on a tack there - what I mean to say is the whole reason for going to the moon in the first place was exactly because we don�t know everything - must know! must find out!
