Subject: Yes from the perspective of eons the damage we do is mimimal. But the thing about global warming is that it is really just the tip of the iceberg. There is also the death of the ocean biosphere, the hermaphrodization of all sorts of animals, a thousand instances of ecologies breaking down, all because we only think linear, not circular. We think only of a goal, corporate growth, energy production, winning election, etc. and focus all our work on achieving that goal, forgetting that once the goal is met, we must live with the consequences of our efforts. Or rather our children and grandchildren will. On another note, Gum guess what I found at Salon? A discussion of the subject "Is Bush stupid, or is it something else?" 408 posts! Hilarious ones too!
In reply to: spoot 's message, "Oh but the earth has been recording temperatures for millions of years, in ice layers, in tree rings, etc. and no the earth may have had periods of similar warming but Man and this civilization has not. It doesn't take much to turn the prairies into desert and then what happens to our agriculture? Life will survive this warming but our system?" on 00:25:20 06/23/01 Sat
