...a.k.a. "LFN got secretly renewed and went to the major networks." Okay, it's not *exactly* the same...nothing could be...but what's not to like in a show that's so openly reaching out to LFN'ers? It even had its own "Gray" (the cute boyfriend who bit the dust), "Carla" (the girlfriend), and even...Daddy! The lead actress is very appealing, and I loved her red wig...she just has to remember to tuck it under her black cap next time during nighttime covert ops. I also liked the wall to wall music and the action shots. The previews showed her in a long, blonde wig in next week's show, and that was *really* mind bending. I say...bring on Michael!

Other debuts:

"The Agency" (Thursdays, 10 P.M., CBS) The first show in this series about the CIA was based on a scenario involving Fidel Castro, and I found it to be watchable. The script was smart and the action sequences were good, but the characters need work, IMO. I also found the atmosphere inside the Agency to be a little too bureaucratic/depressing--I'm not sure what exactly is causing this--the sets?--the way the interior is shot? I admire the show for being willing to take on real-life scenarios, but I have to wonder if this is workable in light of current events.

"Thieves" (Fridays, 9 P.M., ABC) This is a more light-hearted action show about two thieves who work for the government. Good characters, action, and UST, but script? What script?-lol! Okay, I got lost somewhere along the way. Nevertheless, it was fun, and I enjoyed it.

"UC: Undercover" (Sundays, 10:00 P.M., NBC) I just watched the first ten minutes, and it didn't grab me, but I'll give it another chance. The music sounded good, though.

"Enterprise" (UPN) Ahhh...bliss. Our new captain looks like he was born to do this role. It's nice to know that some things in life are totally reliable...the "Star Trek" franchise being one of them.

So, what did *you* think about the new shows?

"Mutant X" airs here in the Washington area this next Saturday at 6:00 P.M. (strange time!) on channel 50, WFTY. Check your local listings--don't miss it! :-)

[> I didn't these, Susan, but I did see an ad for "24" (the show that Sean Callery and Blaine Johnson are working on) which will premiere on Fox on Tuesday, November 6th. It got pulled from it's original air date because of the terrorist attacks. -- Shirleym, 11:41:52 10/01/01 Mon

[> The only one I caught was Alias and I had to laugh at how many things they ripped off from LFN. Didn't find it as dark as LFN. Thought they were trying harder to be funny...found it entertaining, though. Too bad they killed off that hottie. Maybe we'll get some UST with the CIA guy...call me shallow. -- PJ, 12:30:14 10/01/01 Mon

[> I saw a preview of "Alias" with the gal wearing a long blonde wig and blue dress -- very Nikita-like. Only saw "Enterprise" with Scott Bakula, whom I loved in Quantum Leap. Once I love 'em, they'll always have a place in my heart. Of course, none are so big as the place RD has! -- Gretchen, 12:47:08 10/01/01 Mon

I'm one of the few I've heard from yet who just couldn't get into Alias. Granted, the 3 Tenors in the Forbidden City were on for an hour before it started and I had a hard time dragging myself away, but I had a hard time buying into the characters. I'll give it another chance next week when it's not in competition with Domingo, Carreras, & Pavarotti.

I'm always glad to see a new Star Trek and this one looks like it might be livelier than some -- more like the original in many ways. I'm not a big Scott Bakula fan but I'll give him a chance. I do think the T'Pau character has promise and I really like the crewman who couldn't pull himself away from the showgirls, LOL.

Crossing Jordan with Jill Hennesey is my pick of the season's newbies so far. I always liked her on Law & Order and the characters seem to be working for me. Miguel Ferrer is too perfect as the boss who talks to his hand puppet.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent looked pretty good. I liked the detectives and their boss. It had good guest stars. It felt like it was just slightly off-pace but they may not have their sea legs yet.

Has anyone caught The Chronicle on the Sci-Fi channel? What a hoot! A fun show.
