I have the feeling that one of the reasons he's able to keep his ego focused in a positive direction is because he didn't aspire to be an actor when he got into it. He seemed to be much more focused on sports and things that required thought, creativity, and analysis, so he sort of came at it from a different perspective. Not the usual, I'm f***** up and need the world to acknowledge and love me - perspective?

(I also think this is MUCH harder to acheive for women than it is for men). Um... a kind of sensitivity to other people's feelings I would say... and ... a certain amount of modesty, as you said, Susan. Did I miss anything? -- Shirleym, 04:32:06 07/15/01 Sun

[> [> [> Those are good traits, Shirley...some that I would not have thought of. I like the fact that R.D. is always kind to his fans, even when he must surely be feeling tired, grumpy, or otherwise bothered. It takes a lot of effort to do that, and that effort requires character, IMO. -- sw, 22:20:03 07/16/01 Mon
