Dear Cowardly,
If you don't like what your kids are reading here, don't let them. Sesame Street is on PBS, not voy.com/4204.
To quote Pete Townshend,
"This is a ROCK AND ROLL concert, not a fucking tea party!!"
I have NEVER read a serious rock publication without the odd swear word used. It's parents' responsibility to filter what they want their children to see. Most of us here are adults and I see NO reason to ask Burton to censor his biography excerpts for your kid. The book will come out anyway and will be available in book stores. Will you call the store and lay the guilt on them that your kid is swearing? I think not.

I have a six year old who uttered the f word once, very innocently because she heard it at school, and then again while mom was listening to Paul Simon's Capeman, where Paul uses the word extensively. I explained to her that Paul was singing about bad people, and that's how they talk. I've never heard her utter it since. And when she gets older, she may realize that there are appropriate uses for the word, but NOT YET.
Instead of shielding kids from the world, let's use these incidents as opportunities to teach them our expectations and values.
And, thanks, BC for your candidness.

And while we're on the topic, something else that I find particularly silly is the use of phrases such as "Oh, Sugar", or "Fudge" by some individuals who think they are being "proper" by avoiding S--t and F--k.

The actual word or phrase is not nearly as important as what that word or phrase symbolizes, or so I studied at one time, so those hoity-toity individuals still have to say their "Hail Mary's" for confession.....
