• having been unprepared to fall so soon and so quickly, Q hadn't had time to be ready to roll. Not that she could have if she had wanted to, being that she was stiff from her position. Extending her hand "thanks. I'm a little stiff, so, sorry if I lean on you a bit as you help me up." She got up, with his help, and leaned on him while she let the blood get going in her system. "you're very deft (ooc what's that word???) with your sword. Only 2 have I seen with anything of the likeness. Brothers, and dear friends of mine." Q's eyes started to tear up as she thought about her 'family.' "I... I..." She leaned on Ranskin's shoulder and started to cry. "What is Qu going to do all by himself now??   • Ranskin looked quite surprised and slightly alarmed when Q burst into tears. He tried not to shift uncomfortably, and glanced at the bird as if for help. The bird, however, had resumed poking through the remains of Q's supplies. Ranskin waited until Q regained her composure, then cleared his throat. "A dragon? So you are from the Colony." He paused for a moment, then went on. "You know, you can still go back if you want to. The Council understands that sometimes people aren't prepared. They'll call you again another time."       • OOC: I think Chaftar got the wrong thread :) IC: The pair trudged along through the Forest, Ranskin leading Q-llynne along a small path that twisted and turned in a seemingly random fashion. The bird flew overhead, gliding from tree to tree, soaring ahead, and doubling back. Occationally it would land on Ranskin's shoulder and clack its beak. During the trek, Ranskin kept silent, eyeing the trees around them warily, as if enemies lurked behind every trunk or bush.   • Ranskin had been staring in silence at a tree, and the sound of Q's voice startled him. He glanced at her, then at the bird. "Oh, you mean Beggar? Beggar's a smart animal. He's--" Ranskin stopped mid-sentence and whipped around, glaring at the tree he had been staring at earlier. He scowled at the tree for several moments, then turned back and started drawing in the dirt with a stick as if nothing had happened. The bird, which had also been staring at the tree, suddenly squawked loudly. Ranskin glanced back at the bird and then at the tree. "I know, Beggar. I know." With that, he continued down the trail.       • Ranskin wondered why the girl's smile seemed so patronizing, but he said nothing about it. He just smiled back and continued to lead the way. They traveled on in silence for the remainder of daylight. As the forest grew dark, Ranskin called for a halt in a small clearing. • "How long have you lived in the forrest?" Q asked trying to make light conversation. All the while through out the conversation (ooc: assuming they have a conversation, if not, throughout the evening, instead of the conv.) She had only known this man for a day, and did not wish to have any unpleasnt surprises she was not prepared for.   • "Months, maybe years--I've lost track of the weeks." They spoke little for the remainder of the evening, both preparing and eating a bit of food Ranskin had gathered during their trek. The fire slowly burned down, and Ranskin took first watch. The image of Ranskin staring at the trees was the last thing Q saw before she succumbed to sleep. Suddenly, she woke. The forest was dark and all that remained of the fire were burning embers. Q woke to the dim sight of Ranskin bending over her, a hand on her shoulder. "Your watch," he said softly.     • Cursing her self for not sleeping light, she got up to take her watch. She watched, simotaniously, the forest around her and Ranskin. She watched him bed down and then was intent on the forrest, yet, at the same time, aware of the camp and of Ranskin, who, she thought, hadn't fallen asleep yet.
