Subject: Here is the truth about why pageants are so negative.

I think the problem here is that pageant moms do not think rationally. Unfortunately pageants become an obsession and they become grossly blinded by the quest for the crown to even realize what they are doing to their own children. It is very sad. I am a "pageant mom" to some. I have children who "compete" in pageants. When we started I was able to look at what the older competitors were doing at some pageants and KNOW that it is just wrong. I knew right off that I could never subject my young children to adult makeup, teased hair, gaudy, glitzy adult style clothing....or pro-am. I know other moms who started the same way...but got caught up and became willing to compromise their child for the almighty crown. Their vision gets clouded and I truly believe they do not even know what they are doing anymore when it happens. YES I will agree that it is wrong for any man to find a child "sexual"...but ladies, that is not the REAL issue here. The fact is...there are men out there that are like this. More than we like to admit at times. The best word for them is "predator". As a parent it is our job to protect our children from such predators. Dressing children like miniature adults, in crop tops and tight pants and pull away skirts in full makeup and hair...is just making them a target for such predators. So why as a parent would you continue? Sure...there are a lot of moms out there who swear by and by that their children just LOVE pageants. And some do...but they would also enjoy simpler, non glitzy pageants that don't make a young child look several tims their age. There are also those children out there who don't really LOVE it all that much, but they continue to play the game because it makes their mother oh-so-happy. Ladies, as a fellow pageant mom who has kept her head....let me just say that you can justify it all you want....it doesn't make it right.
