OMG thank you. I remembered way back years ago a documentary about these people who dressed their daughters up like women with big 80's hair and clothes and makeup and danced them in front of men to be chosen as brides. They were 9 and 10 years old. I was sickened by the whole thing and I was only a teenager when I saw this. I am now hitting 30's and putting my daughter in pageants seems so far from this or I would be sickened by it too. I am not trying to marry off my child and I am not dressing her in an exact duplicate/miniature version of a womans evening gown, nor am I styling her hair like an older woman. I see no similarities between the two but I was trying to tell someone about these people and I couldn't remember what they were called and I am so glad I am not the only one who has heard of them.

The only thing pageants have in common with Irish Travelers is rhinestones. Travelers may tease, but it's their own hair. They also don't have fake tans, and they wouldn't be caught in the same dress twice. And frankly, they have better fashion sense than to wear some of the gowns we've seen! And I've seen toddlers to ten-year-olds at pageants in too-short gowns with cut-out backs, so the travelers are conservative by comparison.

We know some of the travelers, or "gypsies" as locals call them. In fact, we've gotten great sportswear outfits from them. Their daughters parade around in fancy clothes because they like to, not because they are looking for mates.

We choose age-appropriate gowns for our daughter; she may not win a national, but frankly, if she has to have a fake tan, hair, teeth and eyelashes, wear a $2,000 dress and pay for pictures that are so retouched they look like someone else, it's not a win worth having.

Somewhere along the way, we have lost sight of what true beauty is.

The show I saw had dark haired people Italian looking parading around their daughters for mates 20 and 30 years older.

They were Irish Travelers, originally from PA but now in SC. The show said they were parading for mates, but that was not true.

I personally think all judges should be known before the pageant so you can decide if you still want to go or not. It is kind of sneaky of directors, if you think about it, for you to pay out all that money and not know who will be deciding who loses it all, or hits the jackpot. It is not fair to get there and find out little Suzy's coach's sister is judging. Or Suzy's (that your kid beat last week) parents are judging. Or parents of little Suzy that you judged once and they were mad she didn't win. These situations are not fair and too much money is at stake for anyone to have to be in them.

That is an idea. But, the directors should be using people from out of town, call them close to the date and go over the list of contestants to ensure that they dont know any of them. They should not be using local people in the first place. If the directors were to release info of who the judges were, someone in the world would have to know them and then may enter at the last minute. Then there would definetly be COI all over again. Just ask the director before you enter where the judges are from and what are their qualifications. The director should be able to give you this information without giving away who the judges are. If, when you get there, the judges are local then confront the director and demand a refund. If you dont know until after the pageant is over that the judges were local or new someone then I would still ask for a refund. Honest judges do not like to judge people they know. People do not like to be put on the spot like that.

When I knew the judges, they were not local. They lived no where near me, or near the pageant. I would not have even known them had the director told me their names. I didn't even know them when I saw them, I was told later who they were. They would not have told the director they knew us because this was their revenge.

K if 5 people pay and 1 goes free, that is 4 extra payments they would not have otherwise. How do you see that as going in the HOLE?lol Then when you do go free, you usually enter tons of extra stuff and end up paying hundreds anyway. Most directos do require that someone have never done their pageant before, all pageants have different rules and she didn't break any so lay off.

You know what. I have read this conversation for 2 days now and I find it pitiful. The lady admitted she may should not have asked for referrals who were already going. My thoughts are WHY WOULD ANYONE HAVE A PROBLEM HELPING SOMEONE ELSE OUT!!!!!!!!! Are you all that damn selfish?????????? Is this what has happened to pageants????? Definition of REFERRAL CREDIT -- Anonymous, 11:37:32 07/15/02 Mon

I am a pageant director and offer referral credit towards entry fee to my pageant. I will always offer this credit because it definetly does help when moms are putting out apps and mailing them to people who would not otherwise had known about the pageant.
DEFINITION: Referral credit is meant to be payment for contestants advertising and bringing in contestants who would not have otherwise entered the pageant. A good example: You put out papers on another pageant's registration table, a contestant picks it up that has never heard of this pageant and enters. That is a referral.
People who get on the boards or ask around to find out who has already decided to go, but has never entered the pageant IS NOT A REFERRAL!! Directors know that people abuse referrals just as this lady is doing on this board, but there is no way to prove it, so they get away with it.
BUT JUST KNOW that you are taking advantage of all the other kids that have to pay! If all you have done is ask someone to put your child's name on an app that they ALREADY HAD is taking advantage!!! Don't get me wrong, I dont want to sound greedy because I do appreciate those that do work hard for it but it does bother me that some people can be so blatant about abusing the referral system. To AM's mom: I am sure you are a nice person and have a beautiful child but you cant blame people for being sour! As a pageant mom myself, it is sickening to have to pay and then someone else gets to slide in free without having to go to any trouble or effort. And another point: When a director begins budgeting a pageant they have to take into consideration how much everything is going to cost versus how many they anticipate to enter. Cost of pageant/# expected contestants = Entry Fee (or so it should) This is very hard to do because I always want to give away as much as I can and keep the fees reasonable. It is even harder when you know you will have several kids "working" on referrals, you dont know if they are really going to work on it and are going to pull atleast one real contestant or are they going to hunt around and find kids who were going anyway? If they dont pull any real contestants then you can just put them down as an additional expense! The budget goes up, the entry fees go up! Hopefully, there are some you can count on that will really pull new kids that will help balance the budget. See how hard it is to be a Director? I have even had moms wanting to use siblings as a referrals for each other!

Don't know what pageants you do but the ones we do require the other person to put your name on their form. So what you say makes no sense. If your way is the way it works then do tell cause I'll start saying we have such and such for our referrals at every pageant and get in free myself.

What about the assholes who pick up a form someone took to a pageant and white out that name and add someone elses? Do you ms. director do anything about that? At least Glamour Dolls is smart enought to say NO WHITE OUT ALLOWED on the referral line. I like that cause I know we had referrals before and know it's been certain people but they decided to use a friend instead. So that is not very fair either so you aren't the only one getting it bad baby. I think it was real rude of you to come on here as a director and single out one lady when I just saw on other boards a ton of banners aksing for referrals on pageants. wish I knew who you was so I could not refer my friends to you. Can I get any money for unreferring the most people LMAO!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Dear Director lady. You are mean and mean people suck. Where do you get off saying you are sickened by having to pay while someone else slides in. I myself have tried the referral route just not my cup of tea too much work and people are too wishy washy to depend on. If you find people who get referrals so offensive I'm sure they stand no chance in your system so why not tell what you direct so we can all avoid it. And if ya find it so hard to direct just stop. Simple huh?

Ok, here is my defense. I am responding to your post but directing them at all of the replies.
First of all, to the person that made the comment about referrals hurting them in a pageant system: Directors DO NOT tell the judges who to pick. The judges dont know who paid what or by what ever means they used to pay them.

To the person that made the comment about referring 5 new people: Yes, that is great and very helpful. But--- You cannot use this one example. You have to look at the bright side and the dark side. Sure, there are some that really do work hard and deserve it. My only point was that some don't and don't seem to know what referrals are, so I told them!

Yes, bringing in 5 contestants in exchange for 1 entry helps tremendously. Don't forget to take into consideration how much entry fee that one is getting for free! I would say that getting up to $500 is good pay for simply putting out papers on registration tables, investing in a roll of stamps, making some phone calls & etc.
NOT EVERYONE DOES THAT!

To the poster about the white out: Great point, I will definetly put that on my papers, but I do give credit to the person originally written on that paper if it is visible enough to read.

To the poster that thinks I should quit because Pageants are difficult: Not a chance! Whether I make money or not, I enjoy it. The only thing I hope for is to break even.

Directing a pageant is very similar to competing in them. Takes alot of time and money, can be really aggravating but can also be very enjoyable. Directors can win, lose or break even: Contestants can win, lose or break even. Same thing!

Don't seem so shocked that Directors get irritated just like all the pageant moms get irritated somtimes. Pageant moms get on these boards and fuss over everything from gurus to fake tans: cheating directors to bad judges. Cant a Director complain a little bit too? You know we are on here, we post banners and upcoming events.

I never meant to bash that lady at all, and I apologize to her for coming across that way. I dont think she meant to say anything out of the way and I was too harsh.

Just one thought to leave you all with:
Imagine spending weeks preparing to enter a pageant. You have spent plenty of money, knocked yourself out to really do well when you get there. You have bought new clothes, new pictures, practiced hours on end to perfect your routine. You get there full of excitement and hopes of doing well. Competition goes perfectly, you have never looked so good or performed as well as you have that day. Crowning finally comes. You win nothing and then to make matters worse, everyone that was there comes on the boards to publicly say that you were awful. They say your dress was hideous, your routine was terrible and your pictures looked like homemade snapshots and you are really not that pretty.
WOW! Wouldn't that just hurt your feelings? Happens to directors every day. But, we continue hoping that the next one brings many happy returns. Maybe one that didn't win will give us a big hug with a baby doll smile just to say we had fun anyway.

Just got back on and I see that the referral discussion is still going on and now another mom and her child are getting the bad end. I just reread my post asking for referrals for APM and I will admit that I should not have asked for people already planning to go to put A down. I realize that now, but I was simply panicked because we did have our referrals and then they fell through. I do normally work on referrals by passing out forms to pageants, taking them to my coach, and posting on boards that I have forms if anyone is interested I can get them paperwork. And if anyone contacts me, I do pass them out. If someone already has paperwork, I still think it's okay to ask them to put us down as a referral IF we ask them to go. I get lots of forms for pageants and obviously we don't do them all. So if someone e-mails me and tells me how good and fair it is and we decide to go, then I will put that person down as a referral as I would not have gone had they not told me about the pageant from their view. Please don't make this a bash fest. I enjoy coming to this board and looking at the predictions. Again, I DO apologize for the way I worded my referral post for APM. I will think better of it next time and I will stick with taking forms to pageants, etc, and then when I post I will simply put if anyone is considering going and needs paperwork to e-mail us for it. Referrals are a gray area. I do think that if someone already has a form but you talk them into going you should get referral credit. I just meant that it is annoying to see people who just want someone to put their name down that was already going.

What if she just couldn't come up with the money to do the pageant at all and can only go if she WORKS on referrals? You should know how much pics and clothes and modeling costs. Some people don't have the extra money it takes to do them and I highly doubt this lady takes them ALL.lol I am sure she only gets her minimum and then stops. Why don't you work on getting some and stop. I agree that getting ALL of them would be mean, but who does that???

you need to consider that if one person brings you 5, you are more than making enough to cover it. I am a director and if you bring me 5 kids paying full price, I will not only let you enter the package for free, I will pay you!!! And sure you make some points, but why do you not mention the people who knock people out of winning photo contests and never have any intention of going. Someone who needs referrals and thinks they have them and then loses them and innocently tries to get a couple does not deserved to be bashed and singled out like you are all doing. I wish I knew who you were and I would make sure my friends and I NEVER do your pageant.

Sounds to me like someone has some sour grapes. Its not like she wins free entry in photo contests she has no intention of going to, or has a money tree in her backyard, or wins thousands at pageants and gets free clothes and pics. Get a grip people. A friend.

Hi, thank you for saying that you are not picking on AM. She has won recently, but no where near the amount of money to keep things going. As a matter of fact 4 of the 5 pageants she won NO money. At AMBG State beauty winners did not get cash. At UB, Andi's scores were messed up, te directors fixed it but another child had already been crowned and given the cash, so instead of cash, we got credit for their next pageant. At Royal Elegance, she won free entry to state, so again no cash. She did win good money at Priceless Moments which helped, lol. Then she just won APM, but there was not enough in her group to pay. I am not fussing about not winning money at these other pageants, we knew going into it that we may not, we were just happy to win, lolol. I'm sorry that you feel that we should not ask for referrals, but how does that give us an advantage? I mean it does help us go the pageant which is what my child loves, but it sure doesn't help me buy other things, lolol. If we don't get referrals, credit from another pageant, photo contests, or guestbook wins, then we just don't go. Again, I do thank all the people that have helped us with referrals. Andi loves pageants or we wouldn't be going so your help is and always will be appreciated. Thanks for letting me have my say. Happy pageanting. :0)

I totally have to agree with you!!This lady always trys to take all the Referrals!Why not try and give someone else a chance for once!Dont you think people get tried of you asking for them for every Pageant that you attend.Why not help someone else out.You dont need it anymore then the rest of us.Seriously think about it.Just a thought

Get a grip. This lady you are trashing is a friend and is very nice to everyone. What is your problem with her working on referrals. Lots of people do it. She doesn't have extra money for clothes she just said in her post that if she doesn't get some kind of credit she misses the pageant. Can you read? I also happen to know that she has only started working on referrals this year for pageants because her daughter was wanting to do more. I don't see the problem. If those people who you say need referrals then they should work on them and if it's you then get off the board and off this womans back and work on referrals instead of bashing over something this childish.

Me again. To the person that started this, THANKS, lolol. NOT really, hehehe. To the person trying to defend me really, thanks. But I've decided it is pointless. I don't know who has a problem with me. But yes it is true we have only started working on referrals because my child was begging to do more and we just can't without referrals, etc. No one knows what kind of shape anyone else is in and I know I'm not the only one that works on referrals. Referrals are out there and anyone can get them if they try. I have not only asked on these boards. I have taken forms to pageants, to my modeling coach, I have even mailed forms to people asking. So I do work hard to get them. I don't appreciate people making it sound like I am bad for asking for referrals. Afterall, that's what they are there for, right? I don't think I should have to defend myself over something like this. But I guess that is just the way pageants are, some people would just die before they helped someone else. I'm sure glad that I'm not one of them. I'm off now, I'm sure I won't want to ready any of the replies anyway lol. No Ma'am you didn't bash them, but you did tell who a judge was. And no you never did say in the first message that you spoke to them, it says the daughter of a mom spoke to them, which is silly sounding to begin with. That would explain how she knows Tim is judging also. I sure hope this pageant goes well and the most deserving kids win, for the directors sake because they are being watched closely. If their pageants continue on an up beat (they are getting better since the fiasco, with only minor goofs since that were corrected) they will go far and could be one of the top pageants, but if they make a big mess again, they will go no where. May the best man ( or girl ) win. He he.This was my weekend to work so I couldn't go but I will go next year if things are right on this year.

A couple of years ago, I spoke with this director and she was very emphatic about not wanting the high priced h/m to come in and mess up her pageant. She wanted the pageant to be geared toward the child and NOT who did the h/m or what clicque rules the judges. I would very much like to know what happened to her and WHO changed her mind. I guess when we see who wins the big money, it will be evident who got to her and changed her honest thoughts about her pageant. I predict that the sorry acting h/m boys will have the top winner this year or they would not be attending. I surely hope that all newbies understand that they don't have a chance for the big money, before they ever go.

Lets all not enter any more photo contests and just let so and so and so and so have it out and win them all (like they have been anyway) then that way we can let some other people enter. They enter every single contest every month and one or the other or both win. Frankly, I am not impressed either. The one is not even looking at the camera in most of her pics and the other one has some odd head positions and way too much harsh black eyeliner for a girl that pale and white headed. They are cute but neither one has the best pics in the world but they might as well because if they enter, they will win and I am tired of it. I mean come on if the pics were out of this world, or they were the most beautiful girls in the world I could see it, but they are neither, and the pics are just not that great, I would classify them as okay so that is why I cannot understand why some awesome pics of gorgeous girls, not even my own, are not even being noticed. I just don't get how these same 2 girls are winning everything.

Actually, I think they mean MC and K? But yes probably also tired of seeing SW but at least her pics are great so it's no big gripe if she wins. K does have a couple of good pics but they are not the ones that win. M has a few good pics but she looks like she isn't looking into the camera in almost all of them so it doesn't matter. It is sickening to see the same ones win every time. If they deserve it fine, but sometimes they don't, but they win anyway and that is aggravating. same thing about Ultimate Beauties and some big names were there. I really don't understand it unless they just want to get away from the same old competition they usually have on the weekends. I think Grand at DA Nat'ls was pro-rated so it was under $1000. I don't think she has won over that amount anywhere else.

Don't think Dream Angels prorated! But if all she won was the grand paying 1,000.00 then she still qualifies for APM because it says you cannot compete if you have ever won over 1,000.00 at any one pageant. But if she won the grand and it wasn't prorated and then she won any overall that paid any money then she is not eligible. Her mom is super sweet I don't think she'd lie. If you think she's won more than 1,000.00 at one pageant her mom just may not know that the rules say you can never have won over 1000.00 at any one pageant and not with any one title. I'm sure if she sees this discussion she will clear it up. I was at Dream Angels and I know our money was not pro-rated but I don't know about anyone elses and I cannot remember who took the overalls there. Good luck to all competing!

I just read that Missy, the board owner of Bravo, has a daughter that was Grand Supreme in the America's Beautiful Miss system last year. That tells me who is trying to get all the info about that deal pulled from ALL boards and why. That also tells me that her dearly beloved h/m controlled it last year and plan to again this year. That explains why Robert Lester has been dumped on about that particular pageant. Transparent people with ulterior motives in mind are easy to see through when facts start coming out.

Look, try to understand. It's none of anyone's business what people chose to do as far as tanning. But it is others business to warn people of the dangers that may be involved. Before you spray anything on your child or any child, consult with your child's doctor concerning risks. Your child could have an allergic reaction. Check and see if the spray is FDA approved. If the child or adult is taking medication, it could interfere with treatment. If a child has asthma it could cause breathing problems. As far as a moral issue, you never know who is watching when you remove your clothes or your child's. No one is being accused, only a heads up that cameras are as tiny as a pin head. Just be careful and don't just strip down for anyone in the name of a pageant no matter how nice they are. Directors should not endorse this practice on their banners or in advertising purposes. There could be a liability factor. Parents should check in to any business and get a contract before you buy. JMHO

As far as colored bleached out hair goes. I used to think it was wrong, but I know more than one person who's children have absolutely nothing to do with a pageant or any kind of modeling and they frost and color their hair at young ages. I got my first perm when I was in the first grade and I never had anything to do with a pageant then. I guess our parents were abusing us too. As far as the practice goes, if the child enjoys it there is nothing wrong with it. I don't hear people trying to put a stop to all the work and practice that gymnasts and ice skaters have to put into their hobby. Not to mention that only a handful will ever go anywhere with their sport and that they constantly compete with injuries. Also, some of the worst poor sport parents can be little legue and soccer moms. I agree that some pageant people do get out of hand, but no more than parents who get carried away with sports and other activities that their kids get involved in and run their poor kids ragged trying to keep up.

I have Emailed every top school official in this country about the pageant kids and their bleached hair and glued in hair. They need to know what to look for, ABUSE. Now you use falls instead of glue.So what. To bring your kid to school with tans in the dead of winter or with black roots, you are indeed in need of help. This is abuse. To miss Mondays and fridays all the time for sturting down the runways is sick! These teachers and schools need to be aware. I emailed a top official in CA and the teachers Unions around the US. They will inform others about this abusive hobby that is pushed upon these innocent kids. It will take time but it will stop! This is beyond a bad dream, this is a weird form of abuse. If you treally think about it and can get beyond the crown or win, you will see the sick mental twist of it all. What is your 8 year old doing this summer? Are they doing photo shoots? practicing sturts? Are you keeping their tans and bleached hair up to date? Are they on thier diets? remember they are not NYC models, they are kids! you are all obsessed, nuts, sick and warped. A win is nothing to you. Compitition is nothing to you. you want handed crowns. Your tanning and sick routines are warped. You are backwards in a crazy world. Yea it's youre money but think of all those hungry starving children or the ones who go without birthday presents yera after year while you are here crying about not getting a handed win! You are ourely pathetic, insane and selfish and greddy in your own ways. Your mental capacity is very empty but full with a sad sence of humor. Your kid are being brought up with off the wall values, snotty people, sick people whp prey on kids and their parents money to eat. Not only eat but to eat WELL! You contune you beg for wins, beg for a pageant that will give out many many toys gifts etc so that your kids will never learn how to compete in a real world. They will always learn that how they perform will mean nothing! They still want the prize!!!! You really all need help. There needs to be a place for people like you to go get help like gambling or alcohloics do. when you feel the need to beg as you do for this sort of thing, and come here day after day begging for these weird things, you are sick and hooked on a warped thing. These are children that you make up with black makeup to look like adult whores. You make them pounce down a runway looking like sleeze bags. Their photos look like play boy centerfolds! Just to wear a crown??? this is some sort of fantasy with a bad mental twist.

are those well known self appointed "gods" as referred to in post 835 that are ruining pageants. They want to have the prices of pageants kept at tremendous high prices so the adults can make the money. They also want to produce these high priced packages that dominate everywhere. It is their holding the prices higher that keeps the real winners from winning. It started in the south but the cancer and THEM have spread north. They are tapping the money thing and the kids do not matter to them. It may not be all directors, but I dont' see many directors standing up to them and what they are doing to the pageant industry. Instead directors tuck their tail and run scared and don't try to interfere in downright ridiculous domination.

Would you like to KNOW where the crappy songs came from? They were HAND PICKED by SUSAN! She put a CD together of WW and SPtswear music, and instructed Robert he could only play HER cd's. If anyone received a bad song, blame the people who started this ridiculous crap! All the false accusations that Robert and Dawn use these tactics are what pursuaded the cd's to be hand picked. Wanna know how I know this??? My daughter is a Darling, and Dawn was complaining to ME about the music! She was just as discouraged by it as YOU were! And lets remember, the cd's were being switched in and out as each kid came up. Some did Spts, WW and Swimwear. So yeah you might have had a crappy sptswear song, and the next kid may have had a fabulous WW song. the only person you can blame however is the person that put that cd together, you know, the one you gave all your money too!
Oh, and about the music being turned down...that was also per SUSAN. When you got to your 2 minute mark she instructed Robert to start cutting the music as a clue to get off stage. Why don't you jump on the right person!

And WHY cry and complain about Dawn wanting to get a group picture of her students? Robert is not the only photographer who takes group pics, and Dawn isn't the only coach he does it for! instead of crying get up there and get one too!
Dawn is EXTREMELY encouraging to the kids, and my daughter needed the POSITIVE push! She adores Dawn, as do everyone of these kids. Most of you complaining used her at one point, and YOU are the reason your kids feel the way they do! They hear your MOUTHS, and take on YOUR actions.

Those of you that didn't use her are obviously threatened by her. Just remember, there are PLENTY of kids to go around. You don't have to worry about your livelyhood being lost to Dawn! That is unless the vendors continue to carry on like they did this past weekend and more and more parents pull their kids out. Can you not see the pattern???
Last year it was the pageant world vs Toni, this year it is the pageant world vs Dawn, Wonder which pageant vendor will fall prey in 2003, Lets hope NONE! WE are the ONLY people who can change this. THE PARENTS! Let's stop the wars!!!!

She was not the only H/M there.Only 4 she did did not win 2 were in the same group as 1 other winner and 1 was with a group that 2 of her winners were overalls and the other one dint know if she was going to compete or not,so she didnt get the best job.I was there.Don't talk what ya don't know Nicki was there Church lady was there and so were others.She has a good record everywhere she goes.If you were unhappy h/m is not everything.Check out your other areas.With weekly travling h/m people her girls have won over them and she has the most best hair winners everywhere,including AGG Nationals.Thank you A Friend

that someone have to pay a hundred or more dollars to enter a Novice deal against PROs. That way the pros paid far less to enter a certain pageant and the novices had ONLY one way to win ONE title. Such a big scam to get money. By having levels, the levels compete against their own type contestants, or that was the way Majestic was advertised.

you have every level of competitor. They have a chance to compete against their own level. So actually, those numbers reflect what would be THREE or FOUR different pageants, such as prelim, state or national, ALL JUDGED on their own level. That is why there are entries there, it is like having 3 or 4 different type of pageants at one time.

IMO it is because she has levels. I believe either 3 or 4. That way those h/m favorite pro kids can not beat the he** out of the newbies or non pros or those who don't have a fortune invested in those pro packages that cost over $50,000. The level l is like preliminary and the level 2 is more like novice. This way the kids are competing against their own leve, or at least that is my understanding. That pulls in more kids, I guess.

We were at the pageant watching the competition. For a state pageant the competition was unreal. The winners were all very deserving and the gifts and awards were unreal. This pageant will sure be on our list from now on.

One director was from the Hatfield McCoy pageant but had never seen ANY of the girls compete and knew none of them. One judge was Lilly Bennets Grandmother but also had never judged any of the girls before and there was no conflict that I'm aware of. From what I saw from friends score sheets she was the highest scoring judge. Not sure who the other judge was. I hope this does not become a bash fest on these judges or this pageant the winners were right on and no one that sat there and watched can say any different if they are honest with themselves.

And please don't start on the name thing. I did have a fried there and she said it was not a name game that the kids that won did derserve it. I have read and read and I don't see anywhere that anyone is bitching about LB's grandmother judging. It looks like someone tried to post something but sent it too early or something and then someone else asked what they were saying, and someone else answered. I don't see anywhere on here where anyone is bitching. Do you? There was much talk about LB competing at this one and asking if she was before hand and someone was probably just saying that is why she didn't compete, because she couldn't. Otherwise, she probably would have.

I don't blame you. It was obvious that the judges knew certain h/m and who their followers are. Everyone saw what happened and it was also obvious that the real winners did not win in many cases. Your feelings are justified and it is par for the course with this director and those people. IMO

Fantasy Dolls is an awesome system. It is a very Glitzy pageant with alot of great competion. Even the smaller kids are usually glitzed out. I always enjoy going and watching these pageants. I haven't heard about the 5-6 group. The 12-23 group varies from pageant to pageant. Not as many in the younger groups anymore.

The 12-23mos. group does vary pageant to pageant. Some possible girls are K.P., M.A, and C.B. just to name a few. They are all really cuties. I think they will still compete in this age divison, but not really for sure. I saw them compete at Kentucky Sweetheart. In the 5-6 year, C.F is really good. I think that is her age group. She usally Grands. Hope the info helps out.

The Diamond Dolls 2002 National Pageant has been scheduled for August 18th in Staunton. Virginia. We will be having a preliminary for this on July 14 th in Shenandoah, Virginia. You do not need to enter a preliminary to attend nationals...but you can win fees off your national fees. Diamond Dolls will be holding a preliminary on July 14th at the Shenandoah Community Center. Events will include formal wear, "outfit of choice" and photogenic. All queens will receive a beautiful crown, trohy, banner, savings bond and $50 off our national pageant (which will be held on August 18 in Staunton, VA). Sierra Strom, Cloe Bradburn, Victoria Carrere, Alex Pote, Diedra Shewbart,....this is all I can come up with right now since I am not sure about the fallback date and who it will catch. I don't think this group will be very big though. In the past few years the 7-8 was not real big but this year I think it will be as big as the 5-6 and 3 and 4. All the groups in the 9 and up will be kindof small IMO. I also predict that the baby groups will be huge esp. the 2 group. Anyone know who else might be in the 9-10? What about the 11-12?

Competition was awesome. I just couldn't believe it was a state pageant. It sure looked more like a national. I think there was about 25 kids there but man there were some awesome girls!!!!

We had a great time, and even though my daughter didn't win, she came home with some very nice gifts! I didn't see anyone being nasty. It was some tough competition, especially in the 5-6 and 7-9 groups! Winners were by only 1/10th of a point in some categories. The judges even said they were having to nitpick on some things because the compeition was so tight. The winners were very deserving.

Who was mad? I didn't see anyone mad. Great pageant, will be at nationals for sure. I would make a couple of minor changes if I could but all in all it was a good pageant and it was tough competition and like the other poster says, scores were close so really things could have went either way in some groups. I give it a thumbs up.

We were there and got to check the master over very good. I can honestly tell you that MC did not win on her name alone. She was fabulous all day long but it was close competition she only won the grand by 2 tenths of a point. I believe it was AM that was next in line for the grand. You asked who stood out and of course this is just my opinion: I think SM in the 3/4 group did awesome in swimwear, just flawless. MC and AM both stood out in that 5-6 group in all events (AM looked and did the best I've ever seen in beauty and MC's talent was just too cute for words). RD had some major probs in sw in the 5-6 but that kid has some killer personality and bounced right back. AP in the 7-9 totally blew everyone away in talent. Boy can that kid sing, everyone was talking about how impressive she was!!! NH in the 7-9 rocked in Sportswear, out of this world personality. Great pageant overall. Some things could have gone either way and IMHO I see no reason for anyone to complain about anything. Those kids took home a lot of nice stuff.

Regan D. has really come a long way! She has really improved in Sportswear and her ballet talent was soooo cute. Shelby S. has come a long way in Pro-am and beauty, she'll be one to watch in the future. Sarah P was beautiful in the 10-12, a beautiful smile, and Heather G. has the prettiest turns in Beauty. Ainsley's talent was great, and it's hard to believe that big voice comes out of that little girl. Great pageant!

if this AD is Alisha Dodd then yes for sure she is coming to compete. Olivia Girone is also competing. So it looks like this pageant has really shaped up after all. With all of these girls going and several of Sonja's it's sure to be a real show if nothing else. Just seems now there may not be enough titles for all the deserving girls but thats how it goes. As for me I cannot wait to go watch. We're sitting this one out but helping a friend so we will actually be able to watch a pageant all the way through just imagine that one.....ha ha ha ha

I don't think it will be a surprise at all. I think this is a total package pageant where beauty counts and the grand will be one of the obvious ones. That is....the one that stands out and blows everyone away, and it could be one of many. JMO

Okay, the point is that EVERYONE is beatable. One has an off day, one has a great day, H/M looks great on another. All these girls listed are awesome competitors. AH, TS, ED, VT, HD, HT - all winners. I did receive an e-mail from VT"S mom (a lot of us did) that showed the scores from the top 5 at USA Grand in March. AH may have won the Grand, but the scores show that on stage, ED won beauty and sportswear. AH beat her in photogenic (downright whooped her). Which shows she is as good as. I happen to know this isn't Mrs. Dixon. Its very noticably there are no posts regarding Mrs. Stroud or Mrs. Hastings. Because these mothers are not bashing? Just friends trying to stick up for their own friends daughters. I thought we left this type of mentality in high school. It is an opinion. Okay, the point is that EVERYONE is beatable. One has an off day, one has a great day, H/M looks great on another. All these girls listed are awesome competitors. AH, TS, ED, VT, HD, HT - all winners. I did receive an e-mail from VT"S mom (a lot of us did) that showed the scores from the top 5 at USA Grand in March. AH may have won the Grand, but the scores show that on stage, ED won beauty and sportswear. AH beat her in photogenic (downright whooped her). Which shows she is as good as.
