Subject: Johnson to Indiana or UC?
In reply to: BJ 's message, "I agree. No sense getting excited yet. Like Chatter said, cross your fingers." on 15:05:16 03/07/03 Fri

Looks like the Cats might end up with Guy Ngardi or Johnson unfortunately Indiana will probably get their first choice

At one time, Alexander Johnson desperately wanted to go to Georgia. He signed with the Bulldogs a year ago, but didn’t qualify and ended up at Bridgton (Maine) Academy this season. While under the tutelage of Whit Lesure in the Northeast, the 6-8, 235-pound Johnson has turned into one of the very best unsigned seniors in the country.

Up until recently, Johnson still mentioned Georgia as his leader despite the fact that the Bulldogs already have signed five players. That changed a couple of weeks ago and Indiana slipped into the top spot and a future that will not include Athens, Ga., may have been cemented in the last couple of days with the turmoil surrounding the Bulldogs' program.

Johnson has evolved into a complete player who basically can do it all. He can beat you with power in the paint, he’s got nice ballhandling skills for a player his size and he can step up and knock down the three-pointer.

``Indiana is the front-runner because I really like their style of play," said Johnson, who is currently home on spring break. "I’m not sure if I’m going to take any visits yet."

Johnson, who is on track to qualify academically, is also looking at Cincinnati, Florida, Kentucky and Mississippi State.
