Attention Recruiting Braintrust! Questions:

I've been hearing, for what seems like a year, about how close Matt Terwilliger (sp??) is to verballing. Can any of you provide insight as to why he hasn't yet, or when he might?

Don't laugh at me too loud if he already has, not that it would do any good, since I can't hear you through the computer. Anyhow, I haven't heard anything lately.

What does everyone think of 2003 recruiting so far? Even though we've verballed only two, it seems like we filled voids a lot better with who we ended up with than the "dream team" of Minor, Gibbs, Taylor, Bass... would have. No ill will toward the latter group, but I say it mainly because it seems Whaley should be ready to go in the post from day one when we definitely need him to, and Nick (love that name Nick for a PG!) will arrive just as Taron leaves. Moreover, I think PG and the post are the two most important positions on the court.

Thoughts? Agreements? Disagreements?

    - Time to Move On? A 16 year old kid who hasn't even started his Junior Year Season hasn't verballed yet and it's time to move on? Adopt a deadline and move on? If they don't commite before they turn 17, move on. Plenty of Names that are rated ahead of him? WOW. It is Funny and Sad how posters turn sour on kids when they have NO IDEA what is going on behind the scenes. Let's think about this. A 16 Year old kid is making the biggest decision of his life, he shouldn't visit other schools first to make sure he is making the right decision. If he isn't ready to commit now screw him?       - Those "time to move on" comments are a direct result of UC missing out on all of these "top recruits" we all expected to get.....like Shannon Brown, Corey Gibbs, Shawn Taylor, Tack Minor, Brandon Bass, etc......all were supposedly a "lock" for UC.....and look what happened. Now we get mad if a kid doesn't verbal by the time they're 14 years old......we need them locked up or we give up on the situation. Give it time....things will be fine. Every poster on hear thinks by reading a HOOPSCOOP OR PREPSTARS they know who HUGGS want and where they have their players ranked. YOU HAVE NO CLUE who the coaches want in terms of order.
