with Valencia but I dont look for a scholarship offer just my opinion

Traditionalists who bemoan the lack of toughness in today's
ballplayers must have missed the memo on Florentino
Valencia, a hardnosed throwback who plays with grit and
gumption.

Despite his 6-5 frame, the Chicago (IL) Crane Tech star wages
war in the low-post trenches as well as on the wing. Valencia
muscles inside for rebounds, converts amongst the trees and
makes good decisions when handling the ball out on the wing.

Though many coaches appreciate his eagerness to battle
inside, Valencia realizes his future is on the perimeter. Thus,
he's working diligently to improve his face-up skills. The fruits of
his labor have not gone unnoticed.

"He’s definitely improved his ball-handling and his passing,"
said Anthony Longstreet, Valencia’s high school coach at Crane.
"That’s very important because he’s not going to play on the
inside at the next level."

Unfortunately, until Valencia attains the necessary score on
either the SAT or ACT, he isn’t going to be playing any position at
the next level. In fact, he has decided to suspend his recruitment
in order to focus on qualifying.

"Basically, it's been shut down," Longstreet said. "He looks like
he is probably going to sign after the season when he has
gotten the test out of the way. He doesn't want to prop, so he’s
going to wait. The schools respect the situation."

A number of schools are expected to await Valencia’s test
scores. Some possibilities include DePaul, San Jose State,
Northern Illinois and Wisconsin.
