Subject: Re: James Hird/Essendon?
In reply to: pugsville 's message, "James Hird/Essendon?" on 15/08/13 3:48pm

Delaying tactics may prevent Essendon from being excluded from finals. But if that happens and the Dons are done, it will potentially be worse for them.
I can't see anyway the Dons will get off without damaging the very integrity of the competition, and the league's ability to limit the excesses of football clubs. The AFL will simply not allow that to happen because it will open the door for the next club to push the boundary to the next level.
So Essendon must take a hit of some kind.
A plea bargain, however, might work.
If Essendon takes said hit, it's better to lose premiership points this year (there is no way anyone other than Hawthorn, Geelong or Sydney can win it in 2013), than to lose draft picks.
Shouldn't Essendon sacrifice this year, offer up this year's points as punishment enough for sins, [ctrl][alt][reset] and then start with a clean sheet next year?
