Subject: Phyllis-granddaughter working in Conn.

Phyllis one of my granddaughters left this morning for your state-she will be an aupair for one year at Malborough,Conn.
is Malborough near you?
She is going to look after2 little girls for a lawyer and his wife. The wife is in a computer business and travels a lot.Michelle will have her own apartment in their house-supplied with a car etc.
Michelle wanted to try this for a year to save money for university and to decide if early childhood education is the thing she wants to take.
This week she and other aupairs will be given an intensive training at a hotel near New York and then be picked up by the people she is to work for. This has all been arranged through the high school she graduated from.Only Michelle and a girl from Antigonish Nova Scotia will be Canadians..the others they will train with are from other parts of the USA.
Thank heavens the tail end of the hurrican only gave us showers and hardly a breeze, but I feel so badly for all those who lost their homes.

Hi Tina,

Your granddaughter must be so excited to be traveling and being chosen to take care of 2 girls for a lawyer and his family. She will enjoy having her own apartment and a car to drive. This should be a wonderful opportunity for her and help her decide her future plans.

It is good that her local high school arranged it all and that she will also receive training before she starts her job.

When I was growing up I use to babysit for families in our neighborhood. One of the famlies I babysat for was a professor and his family. I have fond memories of their children. I was a teenager at that time and they had a beautiful home and a boxer dog too.

Marlborough, Conn is around 170 miles from where I live. It is approximately 2 hours and 45 minute drive from here.

We only got the rain from Hurricane Charley here in N. H. I feel so sorry for all the people who lost their love ones and their homes in Florida. I have watched it on T.V. and saw how terrible the destruction it caused. It changed its route and people did not have time to prepare for it.

We are having very humid weather for the last several days and expect heavy rain tomorrow.

Take care.

Phyllis
