this book has cluttered my mind with so many thoughts that i really couldn't get any of them straight. i guess i was trying to simplify the content to get a full picture of exactly what the major themes were. it drove me nuts because i was on the edge of getting them straight, but there was something missing in my logic. it was kind of like having a person's name on the tip of your tongue and it just escaping you. your summary was quite simple in scope and nature and was a perfect bridge for my own thoughts. it makes much more sense now.

i'm really into that the individual vs. the mass of society theme; that is why i'm so passionate about thoreau's work. i'm a pretty big individualist and find beauty in unconventional things and ideas. i guess that is why i love the book so much.

by the way, that was suppose to be "thing" in the original post and not "think." i've been making these errors lately and it is driving me nuts.

take care of yourselves,

chamberlain
