Don't ban either one! You can turn a large powerful vehicle into a hybrid as well - and then it uses exactly the same amount of fuel a Prius does while waiting in line (zero.) >And if you think that is some >kind of heavy handed government, in Madison, Wi they >passed a law banning people from going out and >starting their cars and letting them warm up in a cold >winter morning. That's also heavy handed. Right answer from the consumer perspective - get a PHEV hybrid, plug it in at night, and use the waste heat to keep the car warm so it's all warm when you get in. >Hybreds are nice, but they are very expensive and I >wonder if there is one that will tow anything . . . . Yes. The Hybrid Highlander will tow a 3500 lb trailer. >and if >there is, would it then get any good mileage. Yes. It gets around 30mpg combined. > I see no >point in a family buying some small car that they >can't fit into and then have to go out and buy a >second vehicle. Well a) towing hybrids are available and b) almost every family in the US has at least two vehicles. Get one super economy hybrid (a Prius or whatever) and one tow vehicle (a Highlander Hybrid or even a diesel pickup.) Then drive the Prius most of the time and use the pickup to tow your 60 foot long RV the few times a year you need it. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
