Subject: Have come across a lot of the world judges on previous panels, both good and bad. However, have never come across the Canadians or Australian.

Are these judges more likely to give preference to dancers from their own respective countries? I have met previous Australian judges before who gave Australian dancers significantly higher than others in the panel, and consistently gave Australian dancers the 100 over their competitors, regardless of dancing on the day. Any insight into these judges? Should we expect the same?

  - seen lots of boosting from CAN judges but never experienced it myself, they were often my worst marks, scored better by the English and Irish. Wasn't in the "in crowd," but you can very easily figure out who is. ECR especially is very cliquey, smaller region, everyone knows everyone. On the other side…What happens is that the Aus judges might recognize the dancer so they actually give them the time of day and judge them accordingly. Australia fights a battle of not being on the overseas Feis scene so a lot of the very talented Aus dancers never really get the time and attention they should based on ‘not being known’ (NT) -- Fact-Happens year after year, 17:41:20 04/04/25 Fri
- This is a really good point. Really good unknown dancers have a hard time getting noticed. We were advised to get our daughter social media accounts so she would be “known.” As I’ve seen no research showing social media is good for teens, that was a hard no. (NT) -- Dm, 07:08:17 04/07/25 Mon

      - Our TC is also AD (not judging worlds), and works full time. She barely has time or mental energy to post a few pics on our school instagram, to say nothing of other dancers and schools (NT) -- let's be realistic haha, 07:48:32 04/08/25 Tue
