I love the idea of the freestyle, but "show" dancing is far stronger when it's danced in a group. Some will probably say, "well we have the dance dramas and figures for that," but I disagree.

Figures are an upscaled, modernized tribute to ceili dancing, and dance dramas are honestly cringy these days (don't get me started on the one I saw with sock puppets ...) It's been awhile since someone put out a really good dance drama (like Trinity's Grainne O'Malley one). Plus, a dance drama can be intimidating for a school to put on (you have to do sets, and somehow transport those sets, it's completely unrealistic unless worlds is in your hometown).

A 5 minute group freestyle number would be a huge game-changer for CLRG. Allow them to use whatever music they want and get creative! It would be such a crowd pleaser and I really think it would be a money-maker too. If you had even 10 teams entered, it would be like watching a showcase of incredible show pieces.

How do we get this done? ;)
