The thing is, with figure skating, even for a lower level competition, there is a whole panel of judges. Some of them are just there to tick boxes and count "elements" and determine if the skater actually did every required skill, and one lower level 1.5 minute skating competition can cost over a $100 to enter. So, careful what you wish for... because we really enjoyed going to a feis and dancing 7 solos, a bunch of figures and a few specials for under $100.
At an ice skating competition you can easily drop $250 in entry fees, and your skater will actually be on the ice for like, 2.5 minutes.
