Subject: I think part of the problem is expecting older dancers to dance like younger ones.

I would disagree, I would prefer adult dancers to have a more traditional style. Big jumps and kicks are all just flash and tricks. Which is fine when you are young but are hard on the body. I would much rather see adult dancers perform steps with intricate footwork, beautiful rhythms, etc than do big jumps and high kicks. Over the years I have seen some beautiful and graceful dancers in their 60s. They don't have big kicks and jumps, but they move with the control and fluidity you don't see in the children's age groups. And I feel sad that's not rewarded as much as big jumps and kicks. We should be rewarding adult dancers who dance like adult dancers and we should be celebrating the way our bodies move differently after we age. Big jumps and kicks is just athleticism and dance is more than that.

  • I think it's hilarious that anyone is "fuming" over the adults comps. OP, you've made it clear that you're not part of that comp; neither am I. So why not just leave them alone and mind your own business? (NT) -- highly recommend, 10:26:06 07/09/25 Wed
