A few tips. Wear the wig as little as possible. Don't be afraid to take it off, and then back on for awards.

Second, the foundation bobby pins do not go into the pony, but make a box around the base of the donut, regardless of wig type. Think of distributing the weight. The base ponytail needs to be tight and stable, then the bobby pins. You don't need a ton of them either. Trust in the hairspray as well. So many of the moms use a million pins. Get the firm grip ones and a setting spray, and you will have less issues.

When not wearing wigs, do low pony tails, not high ones, or gentle braids. Give the scalp a rest.

There still may be some hair loss there, espeically on those with finer hair that has no texture. But minimizing hair loss helps.
