I do not think so.

You have to use a D-VHS Recorder with bit stream technology (DVB stream through FireWire). This JVC has only a MPEG codec for analog sources. The FireWire input is just for DV stream (PC, Camcorder, DV Recorder), not for DVB (MPEG) stream.
