Subject: Old radios are my winter hobby. Gave away a Silvertone to a cousin this past summer.

Old stand up radios are kind of like cars as the more money you paid for one the more car you got. The Silvertone (Sears) I gave away would resemble a grandmother's clock or a ford focus. The one I am working on now the Farnsworth is like a chevy impala being a bit bigger. The one I finished a couple weeks ago (zenith) is like a cadillac. Have a few scattered around the house and they make good photo stands but are playable. My fav is a higher dollar silvertone radio/record changer. it's a beauty, in the dining room. Put it on wheels w/glass top and can be used as a photo catch-all or a food stand. Still have a philco out in the corn crib needing attention. The philco is the oldest, maybe the late 20's Btw, there is no money in old radios, just a hobby.
