Wes,

Where do you see I-67 located with respect to US-131?

Is Bradford about where Three River's is?

Thanks

Like Spearfish Lake, Bradford floats around a bit. US-131, which might someday become I-67, is right around the western limit; if that were the case Bradford would have to be located pretty close to White Cloud, although it's emphatically not White Cloud. The eastern limit is somewhere east of Sturgis, unless you consider, like I did in the early days, that I-67 is actually I-69. I make a point of using fictious town names in the area to keep from pinning the exact location down.

The town I mostly use as a model for Bradford is somewhat to the east of that footprint, although once again there are differences beyond the name. Besides, I also use that town as a mental model for a couple other towns near Bradford, just because it helps if I visualize something in the real world and change the labels.

I try to not use real place names, even for places I'm familiar with, unless it can't be avoided -- for example, it's pointless to come up with a fake Grand Canyon! Using fake locations keeps people from pointing and saying, "You screwed up -- the pizza joint is on the south side of the road, not the north." And it helps to keep people from identifying real people as one of my characters. I'm serious about keeping my characters just figments of my imagination.
