I just checked BTFH.net -- works fine.
I can reach the Baen Free Library as well as http://baencd.thefifthimperium.com/

So, maybe some disruption at your ISP or DNS server?

As to Baen, it could be a lot of things, but because of the timing, I suspect it was the same thing, that I get there through the same server. Thanks, Bill R
