A job I worked about 25+ years ago now, the husband of one of my co-workers was trained as a salesman. I don't remember what company or product he represented before, but about the time I started working for this company (office products), my co-worker's husband changed jobs and became a salesman for a pharmaceutical company. He was the first trained "salesman" in that company. All the salespeople there already had chemistry or pharmaceutical backgrounds. In less than a year he was breaking sales records left and right. A salesman can sell anything they believe in (and lots they don't). I'm not a salesman.

I worked for a major "healthcare" company for many years. At the corporate headquarters campus was one building that held the sales training for the pharmaceutical division.

Fellow workers referred to the groups of trainees were simply referred to as "Biff & Buffy". You can draw your own conclusions, but many were blonde and very pretty.

The company called their sales force "detailers".

Sex does sell....even for drugs or drug products!
