Spring/Fall 1965 is the year I graduated high school and started college. Both were conservative religious institutions, so my experience may not be typical.

Male teachers all wore ties and jackets.

Blue jeans and white levis weren't allowed for guys. Shirts had to have a collar. Shoes had to be leather, not sneakers. Tight trousers weren't allowed. The assistant principal carried a golf ball in his jacket pocket. If he thought your trousers were too tight, he'd make you stuff the golf ball into your trousers, then shake it down the legs. If you couldn't, you got sent home.

Slacks weren't allowed for girls. Skirts had to be long enough to reach the floor if the girl was kneeling. I don't know if that test was ever actually applied.
