After studying the area intently, I think what you're referring to is just a shadow cast by his shorts and/or the covers onto his skin.
As for the "family" nature of these boards. . .you're the moderator, det! I guess we can be as tame or as raunchy here as you want.
Mulder was naked (or nearly so) at the beginning of "all things", too. Wonder who took his clothes off *that* time??
