As Salaamu Alaikoum,

Praise be to Allah.

First of all, there is NOTHING in Islam that prohibits a woman from wearing Silk whether in the house or not. Also there is NOTHING in islam that prohibits a woman from wearing colors whether inside the house or not.

The Prophet's(saw) wives and daughters wore colors and clothes of silk in the public:

Narrated Anas bin Malik that he had seen Um Kulthum, the daughter of Allah's Apostle, wearing a red silk garment. [Bukhari 7.733]

In regards to how a woman is supposed to dress and why, she is to dress covering herself in the public as follows:

"O prophet! tell thy wives and daughters and the believing women that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient that they should be known (as such) and not molested: and Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful." [ Surat 33:59]

"And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and to be mindful of their chastity, and not to display their charms in public beyond what may decently be apparent thereof; hence let them draw their head-coverings over their bosoms. And let them not display more of their charms to any but their husbands, or their fathers, or their husbands fathers, or their sons, or their husbands sons, or their brothers, or their brothers sons, or their sisters sons, or their womenfolk, or those whom they rightfully possess, or such male attendants who are beyond sexual desire, or children that are as of yet unaware of women's nakedness; and let them not swing their legs in walking so as to draw attention to their hidden charms. And always you believers, turn to Allah (God) in repentance so that you may attain a happy state." [Quran Chapter 24, verse 31]

In your home with your family you can wear what you like.. however when you leave the home or are around men who are not mahrams to you then the laws above in regards to dress apply.

AND ALLAH KNOWS BEST
