Yes we should correct our brothers and sisters in islam when we see them doing something wrong:

The Prophet(saw) said when you see something wrong you should try to correct it with your hand, if not that then with your tongue and if not that then in your heart.. [Bukhari and Muslim]

However, just as it is part of human nature to commit sin it is also part of human nature to not like to be corrected. So there is nothing you can do about this.

If the person being corrected had a good heart he would accept your advice without debate..but if his heart is not good then he will become defensive and debate.

Once you tell a person that what they are doing is wrong then you have thus done your job. If they persist in the sin then that is between them and Allah.
