As Salaamu Alaikoum,

Praise be to Allah.

First of all, a Believing Muslim never goes and seeks help or advise from a Kaafir. Anyone who takes the kaafirs as friends and consultants to them is one of them.

It is the nature of this life that people will suffer from worries, stress and sickness, because this world is the place of disease, hardship and suffering. Hence among the things that distinguish Paradise from this world is the fact that there is no worry or stress there:

“No sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave.” [al-Hijr 15:48 – interpretation of the meaning].

Nothing ever upsets the people of Paradise, not even the slightest word:

“No laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.), but only the saying of Salaam! Salaam! (greetings with peace).” [al-Waaqi’ah 56:25-26 – interpretation of the meaning].

It is also the nature of this life that people have to put up with suffering and hardship for various reasons, as is indicated in the Qur’aan (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, We have created man in toil.” [al-Balad 90:4].

Also Allah tells us that each and every one of us will be tried in this life:

"...And verily We shall try you till We know those of you who strive hard (for the cause of Allah) and the steadfast, and till We test your record." [047.031]

"Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing." [076.002]

So thus each and everyone of us will be tested with calamities. The Prophet (saw) said sickness and calamites are a way of being forgiven for your sins:

Narrated 'Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) Allah's Apostle said, "No calamity befalls a Muslim but that Allah expiates some of his sins because of it, even though it were the prick he receives from a thorn." [Bukhari Volume 7, Book 70, Number 544]

The Prophet said, "No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that." [Bukhari Volume 7, Book 70, Number 545]

Our Prophet(saw) said if Allah loves you he tests you:

Allah's Apostle said, "If Allah wants to do good to somebody, He afflicts him with trials." [Bukhari Volume 7, Book 70, Number 548]

Narrated Aisha: I never saw anybody suffering so much from sickness as Allah's Apostle [Bukhari Volume 7, Book 70, Number 549]

Narrated 'Abdullah: I visited the Prophet during his
ailments and he was suffering from a high fever. I
said, "You have a high fever. Is it because you will have a double reward for it?" He said, "Yes, for no Muslim is afflicted with any harm but that Allah will remove his sins as the leaves of a tree fall down." [Bukhari Volume 7, Book 70, Number 550]

So thus, sickness and calamities are Allah;s way of testing your faith in him. The Prophet(saw) said the best way to deal with them is to remain Patient and keep your faith and trust in Allah:

The Prophet said, "The real patience is at the first stroke of a calamity." [Bukhari Volume 2, Book 23, Number 389]

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet passed by a woman who was weeping beside a grave. He told her to fear Allah and be patient. She said to him, "Go away, for you have not been afflicted with a calamity like mine." And she did not recognize him. Then she was informed that he was the Prophet . so she went to the house of the Prophet and there she did not find any guard. Then she said to him, "I did not recognize you." He said, "Verily, the patience is at the first stroke of a calamity." [Bukhari Volume 2, Book 23, Number 372]

So take the advise of the prophet(saw) instead of the advise of a Kaafir and remain patient. Also make duaa to Allah asking him to make your burden easy for your to bear..

AND ALLAH KNOWS BEST
