Unfortunately there is no advise I can give to you. There is no mixing of women and men in Islam. There is no boy friend and girl friends. Men are not supposed to develope relationships with women who are not there immediate relatives. This man you have been seeing knows this and perhaps he fears the retribution that will come from his family knowing that he violated a major rule of Islam.

If you are interested in becoming a Muslim you should do so not to be with a man..but should do so for Allah. Also you need to understand that as a Muslim woman you are prohibited from talking to or associating with men who are not your immediate relations.

I suggest that if you are sincere in becoming a Muslim that you contact the closest Masjid to you so that the women there can teach you the basics of Islam and its foundations and the expected behavior you are to have.
