Have you ever held the club in your hand with an overlapping SA grip? If so it is almost impossible for the handle to be in the palm, because the left index finger if being overlapped by the right pinkie, forces the grip into the base of the fingers of the right hand!!!

The palm grip is not necessary for a SA grip and setup, just look at the Jerry Heard "Super Swing" grip, that is SA and is not in the palm at all!
