Lessa chuckled softly, oh so softly at his question of the horses and nodded, simultaneously taking a sip of her beer. She settled the beer on the table again, and twirled it, glancing up at James before focusing back on the bottle. “Yup… all mine.. They’re my babies.” Her smile took on a tender touch to it, and her shoulders very nearly visibly relaxed. As he answered her own question, about how he liked the cabin, she finally gave him full eye contact, her smile from moments before dimmed slightly, but still in place. “I’m glad you like it… It’s always been my safe haven.” Indeed… Lessa was almost reclusive in that safe haven. She had gotten to the point where she wasn’t leaving the farm unless she absolutely had to, for groceries, or emergency supplies for the horses. She even had the feed delivered. In fact, she hadn’t really wanted to come out tonight… She’d argued with clay the entire time she’d been feeding and doing the nightly shutdown on the farm. Now that she was out, she was beginning to feel glad she’d come.
To say Clay was a little surprised at all the information Jess had offered up, was an understatement. He’d heard of Skinwalkers… but hadn’t ever realized they were a reality, and not a legend or myth. All though, that was rather unintelligent of him to believe so, after all, were’s and shifters were a reality, his own past experiences were a testament to the fact. And then add onto that the fact that she really ought to kill him for knowing… Well,… that wasn’t so much a surprise. Lydia had said the very same thing when she’d found out he knew what she was. And lookie, here he was! And no ghost either. The soda raised to his lips and passed them, as he watched Jess silently. When he’d finished, he moved carefully, his motions slow as he set the soda on a nearby table, then turned back to Jess. “I’m not gonna letcha kill me… I have a business meeting in a couple days I have to be at… but you do deserve an eye for an eye….” He paused, and seemed to think that over. “um… I’m not too keen on getting pumped with bird shot… but if ya really want… I’ll letcha after my meeting… next time I’m in town….” He spread his arms and offered a boyish grin, hoping like hell hse wouldn’t lunge at him, regardless of her current injuries..
