She didn’t have the heart to tell him she’d dealt with vampires, werewolves, and shifters galore since he’s absence. Hell she’d dealt with them while he was around, but they’d never been her main customer base till most the crew and humans as a whole had skipped town. She’d learned to make due, there was a reason her Bloody Mary, had real blood in it on request. Such was the livelihood of Cascade. You either rolled with the waves or drowned in them. Angelina had heard Stan’s intake at Rob’s name. Her chest contorting as she thought of the man who’d been her rock when she needed him most, then as if knowing she’d be okay, slipping away and on with his life. She missed him, deeply and Desiree too. She’d called him Uncle Rob, and probably always would. ”She likes to write, but I think her order of loves goes Elden, Cars, Writing…and nothing I say can change that.” She wasn’t as upset about this as she had once been. Succumbing to the fact that she needed to love her daughter now matter what, and she did.

”Well she drives a Ford Boss Mustang…so I think she’d beyond admiring them, but I’ve never seen her put a dent in it, or if she has she’d fixed it before I could see it.” She figured he might not like hearing that their daughter drove a car with so much horsepower, but he’d find out soon enough…in three weeks. Might as well prepare him for it now. The idea that Elden was a marine seemed to make Stan relax, though why she wasn’t sure. It’d worried her more than relaxed her. She never wanted her daughter with a jarhead; a military wife’s live was not what she’d imagined for her girl, far from it. The cringe came automatic as she imagined Sphinx riddled with bullets her face blanching some before she finished off the water. ”For both their sakes then I hope he doesn’t shoot him.” She really did hope, because she was going to pay good money to see Sasha punch the man from kingdom come.

The little composure she’d regained to speak the words of before faltered as he reached out and touched her arm. His words and touch bringing back memories and feelings she’d tried for so long to forget, to block out, the move past. She’d put his ring away into a box, though it always sat next to her bed on the nightstand. She hadn’t had the heart to hide it away, but the idea of wearing something that wasn’t true? Had been too hard, so she’d stopped trying, but a part of her had never given up and she knew this when she turned to look at him, listening to him talk and dying a little inside when she saw her own emotions mirrored in his dark brown gaze. Were they truly doomed? She prayed not, gods she prayed not.

”I’m so tired Stanley.” her voice breaking as she found herself leaning into his light touch eyes closing to force back tears, but they escaped anyways. She was tired of being the strong one, tired of being the reliable one, she was plain and simply tired. But his last words froze her, eyes opening as with a shaky breath she nodded, sniffling as tears were wiped away. ”Okay, I will, but Stanley? I can’t promise for how long…” She didn’t know how much longer her resolve would hold, she knew that between Sasha, Sway, Nancy, Laurie Ann, and Shania she had her work cut out for her…but at the same time, she knew she wasn’t doing it alone. ”Refill?” Shaky laugh forming as she pulled away then, regrettably and moved to refill both their glasses with water, moving back to sit next to him her eyes still watery but not as badly as before. Their love might be broken, but she didn’t believe it was gone…not yet.

Waiting on an angel.

One to carry me home.

Hope you come to see me soon,

cause I don't want to go alone,

I don't want to go alone.
