Subject: Well...I kept looking for you on the screen name thing, Det.

I have to say I agree with Det. on the whole Kersch thing...I was expecting he would smuggle Mulder to safety in the end. In fact, I said "lethal injection" right along with JD because I figured Kersch would arrange a non-lethal injection. What I found amazing was how Skinner and JD just waltzed into a military prison and broke Mulder out. I had NO idea you could dummy up a set of keys and just walk into those places without anyone seeing you or questioning you...WOW! Okay, show of hands, who is up for a little roadtrip to our Black Ops headquarters...cause I know a locksmith?

Alright...I suppose, Mulder used all sorts of secretive Mulderesque connections(and of course his junior high field trip experience on ditching the teacher straight off the bus) to get INTO this SUPER HIGH SECURITY AREA in the first place...and Kersch used his influence to get MULDER and CO. out of there in the end. I can see Kersch now..."Soldier, I am on the military style tribunal in charge of railroading this man, now let me and his two buddies INSIDE...PRONTO!"

KM...ITA with your "Go, Monica" sentiments...I think she was the biggest mistake CC and Co. made next to their terrible handling of the the William thing(Scully with Mulder's HONEST love child and undersuspicion HERSELF because of the EXPERIMENTS would have been MORE THAN ENOUGH). But back to Monica...I applauded her spunk in that speech. I also applauded Doggett's steely-eyed refusal to say that he believed in Mulder's "alien B.S." even to save a man's life. JD is way over the top and Patrick had an impossible task replacing DD...but I did learn to appreciate both the actor and the character...I won't mind seeing him in a film.

And Det. I seriously looked for your name to appear tonight...didn't see it but planned to go back and freeze the tape to check for anyone I knew. So cool that you knew someone. Is that person a big cyberfan or real-life or what? Anyway, also...to answer YOUR primary question re: Mulder and Spender. I don't know about Spender...he may have always known...but Mulder could easily have figured it out after Two Fathers...as long as he accepted the CSM version of events...I mean, Mulder knew Spender was CSM's son. And Mulder confronted his own Mother about the affair that produced HIM.

My question is...WHY did CSM want Mulder to suffer and die? I mean, okay...he's an evil, evil man and all. But...uhm...he says "I kept you alive all these years" so he could witness Mulder's learning of the truth and then see him die. Uhm...well...MORE hints might have gotten Mulder to the truth moment a lot sooner. Seemed kind of flimsy to me...and circular...too...since CSM set Scully after Mulder in the first place...long before MULDER was threatening HIM...which means that he wanted Mulder to suffer and die...NINE years ago.

I suppose it was a hatred of Mulder's Father carried on to the next generation but I wish that was clearer. AND I also wish the whole William thing had made more sense. For one brief moment at the beginning I thought..."The adoption was a cover so that Mulder and Scully could do an FBI relocation and recover their child." Instead, turns out WILLIAM wasn't even THEIR child at all. I thought that sort of ERASED the entire John Doggett part of the show in a way...and maybe THAT is why Patrick was so upset. That and the fact that THIS was Mulder's show...from DD's top billing all the way to the final scene.

JD entered the picture on the heels of Mulder being abducted...AND Scully being pregnant...all of those protect the child episodes and this is a miracle, linked to Chosen One Scully and the Vanished Mulder, that will somehow save all of mankind all of Season 8 and 9 was washed away in about three lines and JD and MR are left to drive off into the desert with black helicopters circling...a pointless existance really...other than to reunite Mulder and Scully. Maybe that is ALSO why every episode leading up to this one featured a line about JD and MR being "THE TRUE X-FIlES AGENTS NOW!" and Gosh, darn it...they ARE special!

Just a little balm for the wound of knowing that HEY, you two...you aren't what is important in the X-Files...not in the final(or finale) analysis. And you know...much as some of you learned to love Doggett and Reyes...MULDER AND SCULLY ARE XF...everyone study the tape if you doubt that...cause there it is...and once again praise to CC for having the balls to back down off his much stated stand and/or the brains to have understood that all along.

Raeann
who also didn't care for pop-up Praise...jeepers guys, you couldn't take him with you? But of course, Mulder and Gibson would have vetoed that since Mulder knew he WASN'T escaping to Canada(and therefore so did Gibson). But you are right DET...WHY DIDN'T they check alien guy's neck? Seems simple enough...but I do think that Kersch(if he wasn't ALWAYS with Mulder)knew then and there that Mulder was right and it was a set-up. As to the Soldier's plans...maybe they are leaving that for the movie...but I think that will be alien invasion time, myself.
