Subject: OK everybody--I liked this episode and here's why

This episode was exactly what I was hoping to get. Since I tend to take [most] things at face value, have never liked Folme--wondering just what the heck he was up to, and was waiting for some black and white answers, this episode tied up a few loose ends for me. Here's why:

1. Brad Folmer was still in love with Monica--he was amazed that she broke up with him and moved away after seeing him take a bribe. Monica knew he was a liar--big time and was not going to take his slimy answer as truth. I suspect she used her psychic powers and knew him well enough to read that he was lying to her.

2. Folmer shot the Mob guy because he knew that this was the clown who killed Luke. He shot him because he had lost Monica and now knew it--he lost the only thing important to him. In his quest to climb to a position higher than her--allowing him to be close to her, he did all sorts of shady things with the mob guy (bribes, falsifying files, passing on information, etc.) The only saving grace was that Folmer did have a conscience which is why he flipped out and shot the guy--knowing that was the only way to stop him. Nice shot, by the way--right through the eyeball. I wonder if that has any cryptic sort of meaning!?

3. We now know what happened to Luke and that poor Doggett can finally put the last 9 years to rest. His poor ex-wife can also get on with her life. I liked the ocean scene--they were too engrossed in saying goodby to their son to notice that the tide had come in--pretty poignant if you ask me.

4. Doggett deserves some love and happiness in his life--if Monica is who can give that to him I say "Go for it!"

5. The actor who played the FBI student did a very good job, I thought. I have had one student who was schizophrenic and could see a lot of characteristics portrayed by this actor that I have seen in real-life. Schizophrenics can be very lucid when they want--he had a couple of scenes where his character was just that--quite lucid. He could have easily passed a test if it was just a cursory one. Obsession can allow a person to do a lot of things one would think were beyond that person's capabilities. I was relieved that he did not commit the muurder.

Finally, this episode reminded me of a book I just finished called Praying for Sleep by Jeffrey Deaver--it even refers to the "XFiles with FBI agents Mulder and Scully." I totally enjoyed reading it.
