Raphael Yang, who captured the MISTER SINGAPORE 2005 title during the MISTER SINGAPORE 2005 Pageant is a 22-year-old stunner who stands at 1.85 m tall of Hougang. His incredible charm and confidence won over the judges during the 6th annual MISTER SINGAPORE Pageant held at The Pavilion On The Square on Saturday, April 30, 2005.

Before winning the title, Raphael was completing his second year examination at Nanyang Technological University where he is majoring in Accountancy. An extremely bright student, he was alumni of Maris Stella High School and Victoria Junior College and has won the National Schools Colors Award for basketball and Ministry of Education bursary. In the future, Raphael hopes to work for a global investment firm as a banker.

A sports lover who enjoys basketball and volleyball, Raphael is also a competitive rugby player, having taken part in many inter-varsity matches. Describing himself as determined, passionate and individualistic, Raphael would like to help and guide trouble teens and kids find their way in life and help them face their future.

As MISTER SINGAPORE 2005, Raphael will have the job of speaking on behalf of his official cause, The Project Dana Foundation awareness. He will use his title to champion their mission to take South East Asian children out of brothels and off the streets, and put them back into schools. By providing these children and their families the vital ingredient of life and knowledge, they are given a chance to live, learn, hope and most importantly, play!

Tao Si Yuan, 21 (center) was crowned Miss Universe China 2005 on April 23rd. The 1st runner-up was Zhang Nai Ou (left); and the 2nd runner-up was Tang Ta Nan (right).

Tao Si Yuan comes from Si Chuan; she is 1.72 m tall and will represent the People's Republic of China at the Miss Universe 2005 pageant in Bangkok, Thailand. She also won the awards of Miss Energy and Miss Popularity.

This is the 4th time that China sends a representative, being Ling Zhuo the first one in 2002. She became 2nd runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant.

19-year old Michaela Drenckova (center) won the title of Miss Universe SR on April 21st.

The 1.73 m model and student from Bratislava also won the awards of Miss Media, Miss Photogenic and Miss Puma' and will represent the Slovak Republic during the Miss Universe 2005 finals in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 1st runner-up or "Vice-miss" was 18-year old Diana Ondrejickova (left). She will represent Slovakia at the Miss Earth 2005 pageant in Manila, Philippines. The 2nd runner-up was 18-year old Linda Belokostolska (right).

12 contestants competed in the annual event.

Meriam George (photo), a 18-year old student of Business Administration, won the title of Miss Egypt 2005 on April 19th. The event took place at the Nile Theatre in Media Production City.

22 contestants competed this year. The group was narrowed to a Top 13 after preliminary scores were combined with phone/SMS votes by the public.

Meriam, who also won the Miss Photogenic award, is 1.74 m tall and will represent Egypt at the Miss Universe 2005 and Miss World 2005 pageants.

Raquel Wright (23) won the title of Miss Jamaica Universe 2005 on Sunday, April 7th, in an event held in the ballroom of the Hilton Kingston Hotel.

An Administrative and reservations manager at a luxury tour company, Raquel is 1.68 m tall and will represent Jamaica in the Miss Universe 2005 pageant in Bangkok, Thailand. She was also voted as "Miss Congeniality" by her fellow contestants.

The 1st runner-up was Shemille Blake, who won the Miss Photogenic and Most Aware prizes. Carolyn Yapp and Chavoy Gordon tied in the 2nd runner-up position.

21-year old Sharita Sopacua won the title of Miss Universe Netherland 2005 on a ceremony held on Saturday, April 16th.

Sharita, who is from Indonesian origin, comes from Den Bosch and stands 1.79 m tall. She will now represent the Netherlands in the Miss Universe 2005 pageant in Bangkok, Thailand.

New Miss Curaçao 2005 was crowned. 24 year-old Rychacviana "Vantje" Coffie (photo, center) emerged as the winner among 6 contestants from all over the island.

Coffie, 1.77 m, is from the town of Suffisant and won the title of Miss Intercontinental in 2002.

She will now compete in Miss Universe 2005 in Bangkok, Thailand; and in Miss World 2005 in Sanya, China.

The first runner up was Miss Sun Valley, Martha Fyrena (right), and the second runner up was Miss Mahaii, Kimberly Kessock (left).

Debora Sulca (19, left) won the title of Miss Peru Universe 2005, while Fiorella Castellano (18, right) won the title of Miss Peru World.

Debora, who represented Cajamarca, is 1.79 m tall and will represent Peru in the Miss Universe 2005 pageant in Bangkok, Thailand.

Fiorella, competed as Miss Tumbes; she is 1.83 m tall and will compete in the Miss World 2005 pageant in Sanya, China.

Viviana Arena (22), a student of Business Administration at the Catholic University of Salto, won the crown of Miss Uruguay Universe 2005 on April 16th.

1.75 m tall Viviana will represent Uruguay at the Miss Universe pageant in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 1st runner-up was Eliana Camacho, while the 2nd and 3rd runner-ups were Leticia Fernandez and Ana Navarro.

In a night of glamour and fashion, three new Brazilian queens were crowned at the traditional Copacabana Palace, in Rio de Janeiro.

Miss Brazil Universe is Carina Beduschi, (L) Miss Santa Catarina, a 1.80 m fashion model and Architecture student from Florianopolis, who speaks fluent English and has traveled the world with her family. Carina won with the best runway skills in the competition.

Miss Brazil World is 1.77 m tall Patrícia Reginato, (M) Miss Paraná, the big favorite for the crown, also chosen as Miss Global Beauties Brazil, voted by 13 international websites. Patrícia, a former Elite model who lived and worked in Thailand, Hong Kong, Greece and Italy, will now get prepared to represent her country at Miss World, in Sanya, China.

Miss Brazil International is Ariane Colombo (R) of Espírito Santo. Ariane created some controversy when speaking about the Pope John Paul the II: "He should also have supported the use of condoms and homosexualism". A top model who is currently living in São Paulo, Miss Brazil International will travel to Japan and China, where she will try to become Brazil's second Miss International

24-year old Cynthia Kanema, from Kitwe, won the Miss Zambia Universe pageant and will represent her country at the Miss Universe 2005 pageant in Thailand. 1.80 m Cynthia is not new to the pageant scene: She competed in Miss World 2003, Miss International 2004, and was crowned Miss Africa International.

Ieva Kokarevica (19) was crowned "Miss Universe Latvia" in an event held at the SAS Radisson in Riga on April 7th. The 1.77 m tall beauty will represent her country at the Miss Universe 2005 pageant in Bangkok, Thailand. This is the first time in history that Latvia will compete in the Miss Universe pageant; however, is not the first time a Latvian woman attends: In Miss Universe 1990, Miss USSR (Evia Stalbovska) was from Riga, Latvia.

Renata Soñé (photo), Miss Distrito Nacional, was crowned Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2005 in a pageant held at the Palacio de Deportes in Santo Domingo.

Leonora Jimenez Monge, Miss Costa Rica, won the Miss Asia Pacific International title after beating 52 other contestants during a ceremony held in Guangzhou, China, on April 9th.

22-year old Leonora, a 1.82 m tall blonde beauty, was a favorite from the moment she arrived. She is the 3rd woman to win the crown for Costa Rica, being the others Gabriela Aguilar (1996) and Kisha Alvarado (1998).


The 1st runner-up was Miss Russia, Eugeniya Lipova; 2nd runner-up was Miss China, Zhang Li.


3rd runner-up was Miss Perú, Claudia Ortíz de Zevallos; and the 4th runner-up was Miss Philippines, Jedah Hernández.

The pageant, televised live through Guandong TV, expanded operations this year by inviting contestants from all over the globe, and renaming itself Miss Asia Pacific International.

However, the organizers decided to cut the group of 53 to just 5, a decision which was not well received by many. Despite this criticism, things went on as planned. With such a competitive group, the organizers should have considered calling a Top 15 or Top 10.

Miss China bagged the Miss Photogenic title, while Miss Philippines won the Best Evening Gown award; Costa Rica won Best in Swimsuit and Best National Costume, and Miss Afghanistan was named Miss Friendship.

Now i know most countries still haven't picked a contestant for Miss Universe 2005 yet... but having looked @ some of their pictures these are my favourites so far even though i think this years batch of conestants so far are REALLY weak but nevertheless these my top 15 gals...ENJOY
