As much as im happy we won last night and the thought of escaping seems more realistic, it doesn't over shadow in my opinion a poor season. there will probably be haters on here disagreeing but i think a new coach is in order. somebody with no other commitments and fresh tactics. yes smith got us into nat1(now championship) and won us the EDF cup but i think its time for somebody new.

just my thoughts :)

i'm not trying to put a negative on the win, the lads played brill. But if we escape relegation again, is it going to be the same next season, dont worry about winning games until the play offs? sorry but if thats the plan from the coaching staff then people who pay hard earned money to watch will feel robbed

First things first - Friday night was a great win; one of the few occasions this season when we have seen this squad demonstrate what they are capable of. The fact that this has happened so infrequently and that consequently we are less than a win clear of relegation can not be ignored becuase of one win. To manipulate a recently posted phrase - We're still on the verge of relegation do you read, we're still on the verge of relegation. All is not well because of one performance; we need at least 2 more of those to be certain of safety

I agree BN. 1 good win doesn't change how the season has been

I have read all the messages both positive and negative, I have also spoken to friends in the clubhouse with similar views some I agree with and some I dont. Now as I see it the important thing is to get behind the players as they represent our great club.

I suggest all posters contact Neil and book a seat on the coach to Esher, I have already done so and I hope to see you all there.

I'm no defeatist, glum,.negative person. In our st season in nat1 I was possitive we would stay up,as we did. All I'm saying is weather we stay or go. A new head coach is in order. !!

How dare people waste time on here voicing valid concerns about the fact that despite having assembled the strongest squad we've had for some years we're in the relegtaion pool for the 2nd year running.
As to the timing it seems it's never the right time to raise any legitimate concerns as far as some people are concerned.
Can't mention it at the start of the season; it's too early to judge, can't mention it mid season; it'll demoralise the team, can't mention it now; we should all be behiond the team (which we are actually - it's just some of don't have our heads in the sand or our own orifices) no point mentioning it post season; it's too late to do anything.
The club need to be (and I'm sure are) planning now for next season - because of the evident failure to gain any consistency of performance this season (again) those plans have to cover 2 very different scenarios - I have to say I sincerely hope the current coaching team do not figure in either. All good things come to an end and in the case of Smith's reign did happened some time ago - at Twickenham to be precise!

Guys, if you read the message boards of the likes of Roth, Bristol and Plymouth, you'll find similar threads to this one.
The common denominator? - all semi-pro teams trying to compete against clubs who can afford to be fully pro, or can't, but choose to be anyway.

Let's give some credit to our players and coaches for having managed to stay in this league for so long when at least half the teams they've been up against have been much better financed than us.

Well put RnB. The AGM is probably the best place to raise such concerns. Just get behind the team for the rest of the season.
