Subject: I haven't seen all of them play (specifically I haven't seen Blackshear or Ingram) but based on what I have seen of Brown I have no doubt he is the best of the bunch. My concern was ..... (see inside)
In reply to: Lansing 's message, "Keith: it's not quanity - it's quality. I've seen Brown, Elliott, M. Blackshear and Ingram play. Brown is easily the cream of that group. You need to look historically at how Temple has achieved success according to how it stacked up along the front line. There are warning signs that most everyone is missing." on 15:52:09 03/08/02 Fri

(1) in the future we will have other positions that will be in need of help more than the power forward position (possibly the 1, 2 and 3 and maybe a backup 5) so I don't want to over-recruit at one position and hurt another (this year is a good example, we needed, at minimum, a back-up PG even if Murry turns out he can be the starter next year. After getting the center we desperately needed, we recruited a third PF and a wing player who plays PF in high school (I assume the coaching staff is thinking that Robinson will be a 3 and Elliot will play back-up center in addition to PF but it could be we have 4 PFs and a center with this group). Fortunately we got lucky (we hope) with Biggers)

and

(2) when Brown would come in after sitting out, those other players (Ingam, Elliot and Blackshear) may already be established and have learned the defense, etc.. Assuming Chaney is still the coach, he tends to be pretty loyal to players with more experience (other than Jackson and Carstarphan, both of which played positions where there were really no other established players in front of them, I can't remember too many transfers having any impact (can you say Dra Thomas and Michael Tabb?). He may not get the PT he is searching for. I'm not saying I would turn him down, I just don't know if getting him at this point is the cure for our ills. If he is really a problem child (although I'm sure a lot of that is pure rumor) then I really don't see the benefits of him coming.

P.S. I look forward to hearing your thoughts post-season. I assume you don't post on Owlscoop because of your spat with Shawn (which neither I nor most Owls fans never really understood).
