IMPORTANT NEWS FOR SNOWMOBILERS IN ONTARIO -- Ed in Georgetown Ontario, 10:57:28 05/13/09 Wed

NEWS RELEASE APRIL 9, 2009
OFSC Debuts New Snowmobilers’ Clubhouse at the
Toronto International Snowmobile, ATV and Powersports Show

OFSC Sets New Direction for Go Snowmobiling
(Barrie, ON. April 9, 2009): As the Go Snowmobiling Campaign wraps up its second winter,
the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs is pleased to report strong results, with
increased permit sales, positive sled sales, encouraging feedback from the tourism
sector, and many first time snowmobilers on the trails. Consequently, plans are already
underway for Go Snowmobiling 2009/10, including a new direction for showcasing this
important lifestyle campaign.
The new approach takes into account the impact of the economic downturn on our
industry and is based on careful analysis of better ways for the OFSC to work with its
many partners through these tough times. This past season, the OFSC tested a small
Go Snowmobiling presence at non-traditional shows, including the Fall Cottage Life
Show and the Toronto Motorcycle Show. Shows like these put Go Snowmobiling front
and centre with thousands of qualified, potential snowmobilers who are already
committed outdoors and powersports enthusiasts. With all of these factors in mind, the
OFSC has decided to focus on expanding other showcase opportunities as part of the
2009/10 Go Snowmobiling Campaign and will not be hosting its own stand alone show
this fall.
“Our primary Go Snowmobiling goal from the outset was and continues to be to
introduce as many new people as possible to this great family recreation activity,” said
OFSC Executive Director Paul Shaughnessy. “As responsible leaders, we believe it will
be more productive and cost effective for both organized snowmobiling and our industry
to take Go Snowmobiling to other shows where our target audience already exists in
large numbers.”
The OFSC wishes to thank Arctic Cat, Polaris, Ski-Doo (BRP), Yamaha, Canadian
National Sportsmen’s Shows (CNSS), OTMPC, OFSC districts, and all other exhibitors
for their support of the OFSC Go Snowmobiling Show. As OFSC President Bruce
Robinson commented: “In partnership with CNSS, we produced a very professional,
classy event that highlighted everything the OFSC has to offer and we are very proud
that our show served our Go Snowmobiling goals for two years. Now, with the continuing
support of our districts, the four OEM’s, and many other industry stakeholders, it’s time
for our Go Snowmobiling Campaign to take this new direction.”
The OFSC Go Snowmobiling Campaign is targeted to increase participation in
recreational snowmobiling and help grow the industry by promoting the snowmobiling
lifestyle. The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs is dedicated to providing strong
leadership and support to member clubs and volunteers, to establishing and maintaining
quality snowmobile trails which are used in a safe and environmentally responsible
manner, and to furthering the enjoyment of organized snowmobiling.

NEWS RELEASE APRIL 20, 2009 FROM THE OFSC AND GO SNOWMOBILING SHOW

(Barrie, ON. April 20, 2009): The snowmobiling industry has the opportunity to gather under one roof this autumn, thanks to a milestone decision made by the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) this past weekend. The OFSC Board of Governors approved a multi-year proposal successfully negotiated by the OFSC with the Toronto International Snowmobile, ATV and Powersports Show to host a special “Snowmobilers’ Clubhouse” at its annual event, taking place this fall from October 16 to 18. The OFSC will bring a strong corporate presence to this Snowmobilers’ Clubhouse, with displays immediately inside the show’s main entrance. Here, the OFSC will highlight its various programs, including permit sales, partnerships, volunteers, safety and environment. Classrooms for OFSC Driver Training courses will also be located at the show.

[> Re: IMPORTANT NEWS FOR SNOWMOBILERS IN ONTARIO -- Andre Kornhauser, 09:32:59 05/20/09 Wed

This comes as no suprise to me and probaly many others.
2 years ago I told freinds that 2 shows in the GTA are 2 2 many. Now we have one again. Great. These past 2 year I have not been able to buy a pass at the Toronto International Snowmobile show. That was a joke.
Glad to see the OFSC is on track again. How much trail pass money was lost promoting and hosting their event. I bet you they say it broke even. (creative accounting no doubt)

'71 Skiroule SE-400 w/ Wide Track Parts Sled -- Richard, 21:31:18 04/27/09 Mon

I picked this up, and will soon spend some time working on it...but thought I'd post it up and see if there was any interest, before I got in too deep!
1971 Skiroule SE-400
- 400 CCW turns over, with good compression, but no spark (did a quick test, but haven't gone further)
- recoil is off, but I have it; needs rebuild
- chassis seems solid, but haven't gone over it carefully yet
- seat needs replacement
- track and suspension look good
- exhaust is rotten
- hood not bad, with a few McGyver repairs
Comes with a complete Widetrack parts sled (same motor...but stuck)...all bad components on the first sled seem to be in good shape on the second...but the second was becoming one with the Earth, so it's full of holes!
A few pics below...e-mail me if you have any interest, and we'll talk!!
See link to ACSCC site for pics!

'71 Panther 399 Axial Complete Parts Sled -- Richard, 21:29:41 04/27/09 Mon

1971 Arctic Cat Panther w/ 399 Axial Flow Motor
Probably best for a parts sled...
Was VERY dirty, and still not so clean, but...
Details:
- track and suspension seem solid
- hood is a butcher job
- bellypan a bit hacked up (because of wrong exhaust installation)
- skis welded up, but should be useable
- all electrical and ignition parts seem to be there
- motor now turns over freely, with good compression
- no spark, but have key!

See pics for further visual info....

Lots of "track kickers" at Brooklin, but I still ended up coming home with it!!
Need space!!

Now $125. OBO...INTERESTING trades may be considered!

'70 T'NT 292 (wrong motor) W/Sliders For Sale -- Richard, 21:27:32 04/27/09 Mon

1970 Ski-Doo T'NT 292 w/ Sliders; correct VIN Tag attached
Was VERY dirty, and still not so clean, but...
The Good:
- solid chassis, with no rust through
- slider suspension looks to be in nice shape
- wrong motor (295 Kohler) runs strong on spray gas
- tach and speedo there (unsure if they work...not connected)
- correct skis in pretty nice shape (right better than left)
- seat complete w/ a few holes...MAY be useable in a pinch
The Not So Good:
- hood not great (painted and badly repaired), but all there; w/ yellow windshield
- track is getting iffy
- surface rust here and there
- handlebars have been welded at junction at some point in time
- gas tank repaired on left side, seems to be holding (1/4 full of 10 year old gas!!)

See pics for anything I've forgotten....
My Wife wants the trailer out of the driveway, and I'd like to have the T'NT and Panther off of the trailer before hiding it away in the backyard for the Summer!
$400. OBO...INTERESTING trades may be considered!
