I like making flowers out of gathered organza. I use plain old plastic buttons (that way you can stitch them on instead of gluing)in different sizes as the centers. I usually dip the button in fine glitter or add rhinestones. Then just run a strip folded over through your ruffler foot and wind it around the button and secure with glue. You can do the same thing with ribbon.
