Just curious if any designers have been successful with selling wholesale. I have had some experience selling my handbag line a few years ago. I have some appointments next week with a couple of local stores. I am tired of EBAY. Everyone wants a bargain and you just don't make enough for the time you put into each piece.

Typically the low end prices are dresses that are designed "en mass" or with no particular customer in mind. Bear in mind, you won't find much of a demand for that market. The big name designers, such as Teresea Yee, Tina Marshall, Lil' Louky, etc., work on customer requests.

Also, people go to ebay for bargains, so that is not a huge surprise. JMO

I guess for me I like creating my own designs not sewing for a customer. I also don't like the alterations. I am still going to try it and maybe sell locally and in my state. There are some local stores that could use some better "off the rack" stuff that is for sure! If I had a retail store I think it would be neat to have one of a kind pieces to offer customers who maybe do not have time or money for custom. I would rather sell several pieces at once, get rid of them and move on to the next design. LOL. Thanks for any advice!!
