Yes, it is definitely difficult to work exp for battle in 2E, but it can be done. It just depends how much time you want to spend doing it. Spell casters usually get plenty of exp for their spells. I find that it's usually the fighters that are left competing for the big monsters. Which is why I'm not crazy about the regular kill bonus. It takes away from rp'ing and it can often lead to poor strategy when fighters are left to compete for their kill bonus. Basically, I'm just trying to say that credit should be given where credit is due, not to someone who just snuck in and stole a kill bonus. Quite frequently in the Seekers game, us fighters (Jarrum, Gord, and myself) will be whispering apologies to one another for finishing off each other's monsters. On quite a few occasions, I have spent several rounds fighting and taking blows from a monster that someone else would come in and kill with a dagger or an arrow effectively wiping out my bonus. I'm not saying that Magic users shouldn't get theirs for their spells, and that thieves shouldn't get exp for their behind the scenes stuff. I'm just saying that fighters should get rewarded based on their effectiveness and the amount of work they do, not on the amount of kills. This could also help promote better role-playing during battles. Think about it, how realistic is it that whenever a battle ensues that the "Good guys" chase down and kill every enemy they encounter. Should the fighter that doesn't enjoy killing be penalized?
