Illinois Pageants - THE GOOD ADVICE BOARD
Post questions and give advice about pageants in Illinois and surrounding states. No bashing of children! Watch the profanity. We just want the truth about which pageants, coaches, photographers and other pageant vendors are good and which ones we need to stay clear of and why. When considering to have your daughters photo taken do you prefer to go with a photographer who offers hair and make-up services or do you like to do H&M on your own?

If you like it provided what do you want/expect to pay?

All you would have to do is buy plaques (one per contestant)and enough plates for sides. :)

So the next question is;

Would you rather see trophies/plaque plates/medals for overalls, or see them double crowned? (unless of course overalls aren't double crowned in that pageant.) AND
Would you like to see all girls get a tiara/crown? Though I posted the "trophies are taking over" post, I do believe that there is ALWAYS room for crowns! lol!

We are looking to enter some national or state level pageants in the next few months ( August through Jan.) and we are looking for some in the Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Missouri and kentucky areas. We live in Chicago so we don't want to travel too far. If you can post some links to pageant websites with nationals comming up that would be very helpful!

Dear Pageant Moms and Dads,

Thanks for attending our Cinderella Ball. We truly appreciate you for coming out in the weather and we hope all made it safely back home.



Thanks for working with us and our limited staff. Our photographer and counter did not make the trip due to the weather conditions.



After reviewing pageant pictures, our high-point winners have changed. The original high point winner has been disqualified on a technicality; wearing same outfit for both casual and formal. This means he only competed in 2 of the 3 categories required for high-point.

Our new high-point winners are:

1st place winner- $200 cash prize winner, 5 foot trophy, and large tiara is contestant #3.

2nd place winner and 4 foot trophy winner is contestant #9.

3rd place winner and 32 inch trophy winner is contestant #18.

Each of you will be contacted individually to let you know how you will receive your prizes.

We apologize for not catching this during the pageant. Congratulations!!

For those of you requesting pictures, we are working on them today and will e-mail today. Thanks for your patience. For those who have not requested pictures earlier, if you want your pictures, please email contestant number requesting. Also include in email if you want your child’s pageant scores.

For those of you inquiring about our talent division, after sending out numerous emails for talent, last email sent was on 6/15, only 1 parent confirmed before pageant day, that her child would be in the talent division and that was our Cinderella Tapper. Because we had 1 confirmed entry we knew it would be a good idea to add her to the program to encourage others to do talent. For 9 years old, her story is amazing. She is in arts and theater at Artstarts in Marion, which is a non-profit organization. Dancing with Artstarts, they have raised over $100,000 for charity this year. We also added our singer for that very same reason--encouragement. He is an accomplished pianist and singer. They both did an AWESOME JOB. I would add both to my program anytime they are available. The other entries did GREAT also. But, because we did not know ahead of time of other entries, trophies were not awarded for talent.



Our pageants are all about the kids and helping them build their self-confidence and self-esteem. Contestants entered for free or had fee reduced from $100 to $40 and discounted further for multiple siblings. After investing almost $3000 in radio ads, paper ads, venue, trophies, tiaras, and cash prizes, our total take-in was $285. So when I hear someone saying we are a “scam”, “fraud”, or “in it for the money”…well….you do the math.

Okay-I have to say this-we were there and it was great. The cost to enter at the door was just $40. The prizes were AMAZING for that price. My dd won 3 trophies. They were all very large for the cost of the pageant. I thought the family was friendly and their son didn't compete. That is just a rumor that one mad momma is spreading. Her son was against the boy and lost and she had a comeundone. I mean she was horrible and I know I would feel just so ashamed if I had conducted myself that way in front of peoples kids. My dd asked me if the pm was high. It was that bad. The second the pageant ended instead of walking up to director with concerns-she took it upon herself to start gossiping and was pretty mean with it. (this would get you kicked out at most pageants). Then-when she finally went to director (only after getting caught gossiping about the little boy who won to HIS MOM-she threw a FIT! i I mean it was just plain tacky. The director informed her that the boy was NOT a relative. He was the son of the tabulator-and NOT related to a judge. I know people could argue COI on this one-and I could see her being miffed about it-but we all need to act as adults-ESPECIALY when our kids are watching. She should have approached director privately and instead it became a yelling match. It was so bad that the mom demanded to see the scores (as in ALL). The director said she would mail her her sons scores. She then said, "I'll bet you will", so at that assumption, the director then showed ALL scores so she wouldn't keep on with that insinuation. Well-that didn't make it better and she continued on until she was finally asked to leave. Even then she wouldn't let up and the director had to instruct all her helpers to quit responding to the mom because she needed to leave. It was shocking. Me and 3 other moms were speachless. The director said she may not bring this system to southern IL anymore now. So once again-one moms tirade has cost us a great system stopping in. It was ran well and everyone got something. I would also like to point out that this mom on her way out of the room gave the director a piece of paper with this voy addy on it and when the director said-"what's this?" She said-you may want to read it later (hinting that she was going to be ripping this new system). How sad is that? Really-so now the voy boards are a weapon? I was just so ashamed of how this pm acted and for the record-after she left both the boy and his mother were in tears.

I am not removing the posts yet, I believe that people need to see what mess this pageant obviously was.

I do not recall them advertising on this board as I don't see it on the first page, but they will not be allowed to advertise their pageants on this board again.
I usually remain nuetral in these cases as every story has two sides, but after hearing the same story from 5 different people I believe it to be true.

Here is my issue with this: The tabulator's son competed, won ultimate, and while that may have been on the up and up, I find it appaling that the judges had traveled with this contestant and probably compensated the tabulator for traveling to help them. COI. This greatly upsets me when there are good honest directors here in Illinois that work their butts off to make pageants fair and fun for the kids. To see this mockary is ridiculous.

NOTY and SOTY has never prorated! Score Sheets given out, every child receives a jacket , patches, crown, autograph sash, ticket to the ice cream social, trip to Stuff Happens booth to pick out a new friend and make a pixie stick and more! Jan. 13-15,2012. This event only happens once a year, so be sure not to miss it!
