Illinois Pageants - THE GOOD ADVICE BOARD
Post questions and give advice about pageants in Illinois and surrounding states. No bashing of children! Watch the profanity. We just want the truth about which pageants, coaches, photographers and other pageant vendors are good and which ones we need to stay clear of and why. Ads may be posted or returned ttt once every week. Only post ads for pageants, etc.in IL,MO,IN,WI,KY. NO photo contest ads unless prizes include fees off of a pageant in IL and surrounding states. No online pageants. No advertising of other boards. No clutter. NO BANNERS. PAGEANT DIRECTORS AND VENDORS WHO MAKE MISLEADING POSTS WILL BE BANNED INDEFINITELY!!!!! Subject: Kind of over the whole boutique modeling thing. Seems like I'm spending a lot more money than I thought for the privilege of modeling a lot of poorly crafted hairbows and tutus. Am I missing something?

nope, most of it all was just a scam for them to sell thier stuff and poor moms just trying to help thier DD start a career in modeling got taken advantage of. ALot of those pettiskirts, hair flowers, wings, wands, leg warmers all come from Halo Heaven or one of the other wholesalers. I actually thought they were being made by these boutiques. But we got into it a bit after we got into pageants, seeing that all our pageant friends were doing it, and thinking I could get some quality photos to use in pageants. For some reason, I feel a bit better knowing I'm not the only one who notices. And if it can be passed along to other moms in the Illinois pageant community, then maybe it will help someone else. I was contacted by one of the boutiques stating they had asked for my child to model for them and was told both times that we weren't interested by the agency. The agency never even contacted me in regards to my child modeling for this boutique. The boutique owner found me on facebook and asked me about it, apparently they felt that something was fishy as well. Depends on the pageant. (NT) -- Anonymous, 12:00:05 08/08/11 Mon If it's glitz than you can go strait with a slit , strapless and a train at 13 and it's a must by 16 to ditch the poof. At scholarship type pageants than you can tend to keep them till about 15 but once again change by 16. You may wear them for events or giving up a crown but not to compete in. Subject: Have you ever complained about photos you got back from a photographer? I just checked a CD we recieved from a photographer (not local, so a reshoot isn't really possible) and they are totally overexposed. My daughter's skin looks so white it blends into the white background. I can't use them for her portfolio or for pageants. Do I have to just eat the money I spent?

I would check the photographers policy. I personally believe that the customers satisfaction is always the number #1 objective. Think of it this way, she could either try and reshoot later or give you your money back or if not most uphappy customers will tell their friends and bad publicty is much more costly than giving you your money back. Many pageants no longer accept checks and will only take money at the door. I always to to be nice and accomidate everyones needs however, if people and you know who you are, do not make right on their money owed I will be forced to change our policys. 3-6 months is way to long in my opinion. I marked a 550 dollar dress at 250 FIRM and someone said she would pay 220....I countered 230 and she bought it...now she is selling it for 300!!! I realize now that I was too nice. lol. But am I wrong to be irritated? arg.
