Our pageant is open state wide and is a one day event. Entry fee is $125. Entry Deadline is: Postmarked by midnight, Monday, July 6, 2009. The contest is open to residents of Upshur County who are ages newborn through 2 years old. One photo per child may be submitted. Photos can be amateur or professional and must be at least 4 x 6 but no larger than 8 x 10 in size. All photos will be on display at the fair from Friday, July 17 until Sunday, July 19 at 2:00pm. The public will be able to cast their votes by placing money in a jar numbered to match their favorite photo. One penny equals one vote. You may vote as many times as you wish. The pageant is open to residents of Upshur County only. Girls and boys between the ages of 3 and 11 are eligible to compete. Entry fee is only $20.00. Contestants will compete in one outfit, "fair wear." This is a casual outfit you would wear to the fair. Absolutely no pageant dresses or suits. She will be laid to rest @ Beveral Hills Memorial Garden. Please pray for Mandi as she will be singing "Go Rest High On That Mountain" in Grandmas memory. Grandma loved to hear her sing and once overheard her sing that song and always said she wanted Mandi to sing it @ her funeral. I know it will be very hard for my daughter to do on this occasion as poor Mandi only sings for her babies anymore. Love you all and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE PRAYERS! Please continue to pray for Jacki and her family. The loss of her grandmother is going to be hard on Jacki, her grandmother was like a mother to her. I do not know the funeral arrangements as of right now. As soon as I have the information I will pass it along. I would like to take the time send out a few thank yous and congratulations to the girls that I competed with and met on Saturday at the pageant. Congratulations to Brittany Powell for winning Miss Congeniality, you totally deserved it girl. You are a very nice and beautiful young lady. To Tosha Lunceford, in the Teen Queen category, you are truly a nice and sweet individual. Thank you for all the help that you and your mother gave me during this pageant and the friendly encouragement that you gave to me. Keep up the good work girl! To my Teen Queen, Aquayla, I'm so glad I have had the chance to get to know you and I'm excited about our reign together. It's great that we're both from Clay County and I wish you all the best of luck in the future. To the director, Sherryl Wayne, you have did a great job with this pageant and the little funding that you have been able to obtain. You do a wonderful job with this for the girls and you are a true sweetheart for doing this for girls in the community. The giftbags, crowns, sashes, pins and decorations were great and creative and i'm so glad that I get the chance to share my reign with a great director like you. Being the 2009 Gassaway Days Queen, it is expected of me to compete in January at the WVAFF Pageant. Due to limited funding, I am having to get together sponsors to help pay for the trip that will cost me over $500 to enter and other expenses. If anyone would like to contribute to my expenses fund, I would ask that you please contact my director Sherryl Wayne who has set up a bank account for all the sponsor donations to be admitted to. I would like to take the time send out a few thank yous and congratulations to the girls that I competed with and met on Saturday at the pageant. Congratulations to Brittany Powell for winning Miss Congeniality, you totally deserved it girl. You are a very nice and beautiful young lady. To Tosha Lunceford, in the Teen Queen category, you are truly a nice and sweet individual. Thank you for all the help that you and your mother gave me during this pageant and the friendly encouragement that you gave to me. Keep up the good work girl! To my Teen Queen, Aquayla, I'm so glad I have had the chance to get to know you and I'm excited about our reign together. It's great that we're both from Clay County and I wish you all the best of luck in the future. To the director, Sherryl Wayne, you have did a great job with this pageant and the little funding that you have been able to obtain. You do a wonderful job with this for the girls and you are a true sweetheart for doing this for girls in the community. The giftbags, crowns, sashes, pins and decorations were great and creative and i'm so glad that I get the chance to share my reign with a great director like you. Being the 2009 Gassaway Days Queen, it is expected of me to compete in January at the WVAFF Pageant. Due to limited funding, I am having to get together sponsors to help pay for the trip that will cost me over $500 to enter and other expenses. If anyone would like to contribute to my expenses fund, I would ask that you please contact my director Sherryl Wayne who has set up a bank account for all the sponsor donations to be admitted to. I want to extend an invitation to each 2008 and 2009 titleholder to ride in our upcoming parade. The Parade will be on Saturday, July 4th at 6:30 PM with line-up at 5:30 PM. We are pleased and excited to announce that Major Harris will be this year's Parade Marshal! Major Harris is a former college football quarterback for West Virginia University during the 1980s - 1989 All American - finished third and fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting in 1988 and 1989, and ECAC Player of the Year in 1988 and 1989. In 2009, Major Harris was also inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame! As you know, Morgantown is known for it's WVU fans so we expect a large turnout. Currently, I only have 5 or 6 participants. However, I'm certain each of you will take this opportunity to proudly represent your fair or festival. The doors will open at 6:30 PM. Admission is $7.00 for Adults and $3.00 for Children under 12. Visiting Royalty will be admitted FREE.
